It’s me and 3 of my kids living at home. I like to try to have zero food waste. For example, I might purchase spaghetti, marinara, meatballs, and hot dog buns.

(Please don’t judge…I dislike touching raw meat, so I buy frozen meatballs.)

The first meal is spaghetti and meatballs, and I’ll use half of the buns to make garlic bread. Then another meal, I’ll make meatball subs with the remaining hot dog buns, meatballs, and marinara.

I’ll also have “appetizer night” when I have a bunch of odds and ends to use up.

We’ll use the lunch meat and cheese with crackers, heat up any remaining chicken nuggets or pizza bites, whatever needs to get used up.

My kids love filling their plates with all of the appetizers.

        Dump soup
Whatever is left over in the fridge, plus homemade broth, and some pasta

A few cans of best by expired produce and you have a gallon of dump (it together) soup

          If you shop Walmart
I like finding the French bread for a $1 and make pizzas

Long term health expenses are not worth it. Consider adding beans instead of side of bread, or blending your marinara with some veggies if kids won’t eat veggies otherwise.

I used disposable gloves to handle raw meat and finally gave up eating meat altogether because it grossed me out so much

Good job! Hot dog buns and hamburger buns make the best garlic bread

I don’t like touching raw meat either, and I’m sure a mom of 3 has better things to do with her time than making meatballs!

Good for you on finding a shortcut that brings value to your family!

This sounds perfect to me. I wish we old get pre-made meatballs in my country.

I don’t like touching raw meat either but still cook everything from scratch, using the blue disposable gloves x

Aldi has frozen meatless meatballs. I serve them with spaghetti and marinara or with BBQ sauce and potatoes.

We love them. Reasonable price and no waste
