Has anyone shopped insurance companies for auto insurance lately and is progressive a good company to work with?

We had roof damage from storms in our neighborhood last year, neighbors on both sides of us have progressive (I asked because my lousy carrier took forever to approve similar damages to get the roof replaced). They had their roofs done and all work associated with the storm gutters, fence while mine only did roof.

I asked what the premiums were and I was paying about 200 less than they were a year, house sizes difference not that much. So, I will be switching to progressive or another company come renewal.

We are firmly USAA people, but doing my due diligence last year and realized we could save 30% by going elsewhere, we had no choice. I probably would have stayed with them for an extra 10 or 15% but 30 was way too much to ignore

With that said though I was with USAA and totaled my car and ended up in an ambulance….. The follow-up care and hand holding that happened while I navigated all the paperwork? USAA will forever have my gratitude..

I plan on pricing them again this fall to see if we can switch back.

Don’t miss: Just bought my first house and am currently looking into homeowners insurance

You would be wiser to keep her on USAA by herself. USAA is rated higher in customer service.

I have used an independent broker for decades to shop all my insurances. They are a good source of information regarding the ins and outs of insurance coverage and policies. So much about insurance that you don’t know. For example, some insurance companies base your premiums off of your credit score.

            Others do not.

So a bad or non existent credit history can cause you to pay more when you choose the wrong company. Ask your friends, neighbors and family for recommendations for independent insurance agents.

I’m with Progressive, but other than occasional roadside assistance, I haven’t filed any clais.

My quote from them when I began was 30% less than Geico, who I was with prior.

I have had no complaints…except perhaps their commercials.

Explore these too: Just called my auto insurance company, State Farm and they don’t give discounts for retired or disabled customers but…

I just asked this question on my Facebook page and had several friends comment that they have had excellent customer service experience with progressive.

I too am a former USAA customer who just couldn’t stay with them because their prices are not competitive.
