Good Morning, Frugal Friends! We are going to cut our cable TV.
We bought a small Roku smart tv for the kitchen & it is hooked up to the internet (which we are keeping).
The issue is, we can’t figure out how to get local stations?
We thought hooking up an antenna would work, but not sure if we can hook up antenna while still having the TV hooked to our internet?!
Any words of wisdom?
Thank you!!
AmandaYou would still need to subscribe to a tv package, either hulu, youtubetv, philo etc. we use youtubetv for local channels.
they are raising their cost this next year to $85 i believe
JoanYes, you can hook up an antenna even if you are hooked to internet. You will just have to change the source (signal) to watch either antenna or internet.
JeanWhether an antenna will work to get local broadcast channels depends on your location.
I can’t get any local network stations even though I’ve moved the placement of the antenna; I’m too far from the tower and too many trees.
EricHook antenna to cable hook up, Roku to HDMI. Been doing it for 20yrs.
LisaHaystack news. I’m able to get my local news through this app.
LibertyWe keep one tv with an antenna for local stations and one with Google tv.
HelenWe have antenna hooked to Smart TV as well as a Roku streaming stick. Just have to choose LIVE TV to use antenna; we are rural so receive less than 40 local channels.
SpringYou should be able to find local news via an app on the Roku app store. At least, I have.
JoyWe have an antenna and we hooked it up to where the cable used to go with the coax.
It shows up in the input as live TV.
JanetMy cheap antennas gets many channels and I don’t pay for cable. All of my tvs get regular channels
LeahI get local. Channels with my Roku tv hooked to internet as I have an antenna that allows
The local channels.DawnThere are many new to me apps on the smart tv I recently purchased. My “old”smart tv (10 years old) would not download Freevee.
Many other apps available too like Pluto, Tubi and many specific channel apps!
If I knew better I would have just purchased a Roku stick.
DoloresAntenna. Yes, you can have wifi and Antenna. Your TV has several imputs
PattiIt depends on where you live. We can’t get channels here but 5 miles east they can get a lot.
We have mountains in the way
