Hey all. This may be a weird question to ask in a frugal group but I wanted to know if anyone could give me suggestions on an inexpensive foundation/concealer.

I haven’t worn makeup in years and am not familiar with the products today.

All I know is I see women using 3,4 products on their faces to get a smooth complexion and I just can’t afford to do that, nor do I have the time.

      All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Dhc has this stuff called velvety skin coat. It’s a little high but oh man, it conceals and also looks natural. I love it.

Every time I wear someone says something about me wearing makeup, because I rarely do.

        It’s not even colored.

It’s a clear coat but it smoothes and blends the skin so well it looks like concealer.

Tenant moisturizers were great and go on just like a moisturizer. BB cream is one of them and I think it’s Olay that makes a tinted cream in a jar.

Neither are really expensive and lasts a very long time and give you a little color and hide imperfections, a little blush and you’re done

ELF hydrating camo concealer. I dab it on my discolored areas and blend it with a makeup sponge.

It’s really all you need for a minimalist look

Ask pricing at Clinique counter. Tell them you are on a budget. If it’s in your range ask for suggestion and ask them about putting it on.

Then you can see. You might feel pressured to buy.

But if it’s not for you, just say No thank you.

Elf is a good place to start. You can buy it at the drugstore. And it’s easy to return.

If you are over 45 you may just want to start with a BB cream or CC cream which is not quite as heavy as foundation.

But then once you get your facial action working you could go up to foundation if you needed it

ELF has some reasonably priced foundation and other products.

Try elf! Also, the L’Oréal Lumi Glotion is a game changer and the tube lasts a longggg time because you really only need a little.

I haven’t fount a concealer that will cover the purplish color under my eyes. But I’m this is my favorite foundation.

I’ve tried 9thers, even expensive (to me) brands, but I always return to Covergirl +O’Day Simply Ageless foundation.

It goes on nicely and doesn’t look caked on.

I use a color corrector (elf $3), and a banana powder to blur/blend (makeup revolution $9). If I need a little more coverage I mix my moisturizer with this or use Maybelline Fit Me powder ($8ish, I think…?)

To be fair, skin prep is a must. I moisturize straight out the shower, and then again 1-2 minutes before makeup.

Mary Kay has a CC Cream with 8 benefits, one of which is color correction, so if you’re looking for something easy to even out skintone, that a good bargain.

There’s also a great concealer and undereye corrector too.

The best part is everything is 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so if you’re not happy with how it works or the color is wrong, you talk to your consultant, and it doesn’t have to go in the Drawer of Regret.

Feel free to message me, or speak to a consultant you know.

I’m happy to help, no obligation!

first go to a good cosmetic counter at a department store and talk to someone. The sales people are trained, and they don’t mind if you just go into consult about what type you should use.

The other thing is quite often a more expensive one is maybe healthier, you don’t have to use as much so it lasts longer.

They will teach you techniques too so that you don’t have to use 3-4-5-6- products, lol.

Get an older clerk, and tell her you love her skin and you have some questions:)

I use ELF primer. Any inexpensive foundation goes on so well after that and it really smooths your skin.

I use mostly elf products anymore because they are extremely cost effective and work well

I use an inexpensive serum from Amazon for my large pores, Elf primer ($8) and Neutrogena tinted moisturizer, which is a moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup all in one.

At 50 I quit foundation and just have a simple skincare routine. I use a little concealer when needed but that’s it.

I was finding that makeup didn’t really last very well on me.

I use a crème blush and some eyeshadow and mascara but that’s it

I use a small amount of Eucerin
moisturizer that comes in a rectangular plastic bottle.

It costs about $5. Then Cover Girl foundation… just a little.

Dollar tree has a whole new line of cosmetics from the B pure line and they have good ingredients and are quality

I’ve used Cetaphil Cream Moisturizer for years as basic skin care daily.

About a year ago, I started using Wet n Wild Barefocus Tinted Hydrator for light coverage; inexpensive; retired so not wearing as much makeup as previously so a tube lasts ages for me.

If you are near a cosmetics company store you can get the name brands for the price of drug store foundation.

I used to use Lancôme but the price got ridiculous for me. Tried Maybelline fit. It’s $10 and it last me two months if not longer.

I work 12 hour shifts as a in-home caregiver so some days I’m sweating a lot and my make up stays just fine.

For work I do foundation mascara blush in a translucent powder.

Even if I wanted to spend the $55 on the Lancome, I’m just as happy with a Maybelline and I never thought I would say that.

Start with skincare routine if you have a good one that works for awesome. I’m 50 so I decided it was time to change things up and go back to premium products again.

After trying many many drugstore brands again it just was not working for me.

I was wearing E.L.F. Which is awesome product their setting spray cant be beat seriously for the price but I switched to Sheshido and the colormatch I could not beleive it perfect match and it just melts into your skin its wonderful.

Worth the $45 I paid for it and it has sunscreen in it. On that note they have a wonderful sunscreen that is tinted and sometimes I will just wear that.
