Hello, Lately I’ve been seeing the term “mini-retirement” being thrown around quite often.
I’m just curious what exactly this involves? I’m 25 and have a decent nest-egg saved up myself. But how is a “mini-retirement” necessarily designed or set-up?
Or what’s the purpose for one.
ChristofI first heard about it in the 4 hr work week. A sabbatical lasting up to a year to disengage from the 40+ hr grind.
FarreIn tech (and academia), generally, people will start taking mini sabbaticals between jobs (3-6 months travel, for instance).
It’s not a full retirement, and people come back from whatever bucket list item they have completed with an interesting story for interviews about their break.
For some parents, this might include a short career break to take care of a young child or enjoy doing things with a child before he/she starts full-time school.
DebbieYou start early to save up in a retirement savings account for the purpose of a better life after retirement, I started investing in retirement savings account since 2020 and it’s amazing.
WilliamsIt’s just ‘funemployment’ rebranded lol. Travel until you find your next work gig.
I traveled almost all of 2024 after tech layoffs at the beginning of the year.
