Forgive my lack of knowledge but for those who purchase S&P500 which ticker is it under?
I have found SPY and UPRO. Newbie still learning and have had fun buying the stocks I personally like but I think it’s time to purchase tried and true.
If there are any others I should know about please advise
KevinThere are many S&P 500 ETF’s. Each of which have their own fees, management and objectives.
The two you listed are VERY different. UPRO is a 3x leveraged ETF whereas the SPY is a tracking ETF.
Look at the daily performance of SPY and then look at the daily performance of UPRO. You will see the difference there.
Being a new investor, you may want to do a little more research on your own to understand what you are investing in before you buy.
MarkTons. Depends on the brokerage offering it. They’re all the same
CarrieThere are many. I like SPLG, it has the cheapest expensive ratio I have found for an etf at .02%. SPY is one of the highest at .09%. VOO is also good at .03%.
They all track the S&P 500 index.
RaweeIf you have a Fidelity account, you can buy almost any stock or ETF with fractional shares (dollar amounts) as well (including SPY or VOO) with the same expense ratio fee, regardless of your brokerage custodian.
If you have Vanguard, you can buy any of their ETFs (VOO, VTI, VGT) in fractional shares, as well.
The point being, don’t feel offput by the high prices of ETF share prices, you can literally buy $5 worth.
