Ideas needed…
Kiddo is turning 14 April 15th
Most of their friends are at school, but are a long drive from us, so I was thinking a Friday after school something would be easiest for everyone. This is the first time we’ve ever had a situation where it was more than 1 or 2 kids.
I need
– frugal– Not at my house for a handful of reasons
– We are likely to have snow, and I don’t know how many enjoy the outdoors (my kiddo and probably half of them are autistic, but with low support needs).
– I’m willing to do a groupon deal if you can think of something awesome.
Our city has pretty much everything within a 20 minute drive
I need affordable ideas for what we can to celebrate with probably 5 13 and 14 year olds.KimWe threw a bday party at our local gym that has an indoor Olympic size pool. Our party got half the pool up to 5ft deep for 90mins.
A life guard was assigned to our party. Kids got to change in a separate locker room.
We then had a large party room, fridge/freezer, tables/chairs for a hour.
We were allotted 30mins prior to set up decorations in the party room. Cost was 125.00 for 3hr total, plus we tipped the life guard 20.00.
Another one we did was at a local sporting event(farm team). They have amazing deals on bday parties. Including tickets, tokens for games on the mezzanine, hot dogs, chips, drinks and a cake.
The cheerleaders even came and sang happy birthday and they put my kiddo on the Jumbotron.
Any parent that wanted to attend the game, their ticket was also only 5.00.
(makes life easier bcz they know most parents will help watch the kids)
Because you mentioned autism, I’m not sure how far on the spectrum, but you could also do a painting or clay molding party. I know the crafty side is really popular with girls.
Again not sure the spectrum but there are normally Groupons for jump parties(indoor trampoline or inflatables).
If you can’t find a Groupon, call the local places for best deal prices.
AshleyWhat does your kid want to do? Are they more into art so would want to do a pottery painting? Gaming so an arcade? Movie? A fun restaurant?
StaceyWe have a laser tag/video game place near us that actually has cheap deals. Group rates. Tuesday night deals. Online specials.
Maybe there’s a place like that near you. Do not ask about birthday parties.
Just show up to play. Cheaper.
You could provide food before you go.
SheilaAn early movie…bowling…only you know what’s in your city…local hotels or the Y may rent out the pool for a pool party
EchoReserve a room at the library and have a game party? Decorations, cake and board games/crafts, contests and music.
Happy Birthday!
Kimberlywe found an old style arcade place w pinball machines, centipede game, air hockey, etc. my dau found on groupon. they had an all day pass for same price. no food.
just make sure you have noise cancelling headphones from homes.
my son has Loops ear buds that deaden loud noises but he can hear people in the bakery where he works.
he does closing on sundays so not a lot of people. and he gets turn the ovens off.
publix is super friendly for differently abled people. and its employee owned.
