Celebrating 7 days in a row of not ordering takeout. Horrible habit! I spent $294.27 last month on Door Dash; in the last 7 days I’ve stretched out $103 worth of groceries with plenty more to go.

      Feels great!

The cost of Door Dash actually keeps me from ordering out. Keep up the good work!

All that money you are saving can pay for a vacation. On the rare times I eat out I never order a drink, I only have water

Brilliant! It’s amazing how quickly take out adds up! We do take out about once per month, usually a dinner with friends.

BUT we also live in a rural area so take out is more of a challenge (McDonald’s for instance is ghastly 45mins later, not my favourite to start with, but that’s another matter).

When we do eat out it’s always something I don’t make at home (no one cooks a better lasagne than me, in my opinion), and take out tends to be enough for 2 meals, at least, to make the trip worth it.

There is a fabulous indian restaurant in town that is just divine, and reasonably priced.

I pre-order 2 x large of all my favourite curries, plus a few sides and breads that I find freeze and reheat well.

I always cook up the rice fresh myself, and will almost always add fresh vegetables to stretch things that bit more.

Each container of curry will do at least one dinner and one lunch for my dad and I.

These also serve as great meals on those days we’ve been really busy and forgotten about dinner till 6pm and I’m starving!

Good job! We started limiting take out to once a week and see the difference in our budget too.

You can’t beat the taste of home made. I find it hard to eat out as its never as nice.

                Well done on this x

I like to play music bingo and sing karaoke and watch bands play and dance to them. I go too often cause of that so I try to eat at home as often as possible first.

Some places let us just drink water and they have plenty of people there.

Others I feel guilty if I do not purchase something. I also need to limit my going out.

When home I cook my own food. I never do takeout. I only eat out cause I am at the restaurant for an event.

I used to only eat out on weekends cause tired of cooking all week. But I went out all weekend.

Now it is during the week too since these events I have been going to recently.

I need to limit going out to these things to less often cause some start at 6PM

For some reason I read 7 YEARS of no takeout. I can’t imagine being that organized or that committed to always making my meals.

                    But great start.

Nice job! Hopefully you will find enjoyment in cooking a meal with intention of having leftovers to recreate something else you like! Proud of you!

I can offer suggestions if you hit a wall.

The best thing is the anticipation of a home cooked meal, especially if you’ve done some prep work.

Then leftovers for a day or two.

                        Saves so much money.

Congrats! It’s so tempting to order takeout or door dash but preparing food at home is so much cheaper.

For me sometimes that means pre-made food but it’s baby steps.

One of the fastest ways to save money (though maybe not always the easiest!).

                            Congratulations!!

Way to go. During the first month of COVID lockdown I got a shock. My credit card bill was $2500 – $3000 prior to this.

Gas, eating out, buying car parts, general things, etc.

My post lockdown bill was $197. Holy mackerel!! I had to get into the groove for a few months.
