I recently purchased an Airbnb property and I’m exploring different payment strategies for the mortgage. One option I’m considering is using a credit card to make mortgage payments—either directly, or through a third-party service that allows it.
My main motivation is to earn credit card reward points, travel miles, or cash back, which could add up significantly over time, especially with a large recurring expense like a mortgage.
Has anyone here tried using a credit card to pay a mortgage? Is it worth it in terms of the rewards you get, after accounting for processing fees or interest?
Are there any services you recommend, and what are the risks or downsides I should be aware of?
Any advice from people who’ve done this (especially for investment properties like Airbnb rentals) would be really helpful.
I’m trying to balance maximizing rewards while avoiding high fees or potential credit issues.
Thanks in advance!
KeithAs long as you pay off the credit card balance every month, I don’t see any issue with this.
SmithBanks do not accept credit card payments. They lose 3% on the fees which is more than half the interest rate on the mortgage.
They are losing 50%.

That’s also why you can’t buy a car ona credit card. The dealers will refuse
SmithI think it depends on the lender. But I believe most lenders want cash

Are you going to book your own unit thinking you’ll get points and transfer money to your mortgage?
This doesn’t make sense if that’s the plan
