Looking for frugal dog chew suggestions. Have a medium size dog but she chews up the rawhide and rawhide alternative treats so fast.

Looking at bully sticks but they are so expensive.

Deer antlers and soup bones(local butchers sell them for about 4.00 for 3)

I will braise the soup bones for about 2hrs on 225.

Let them completely cool. They literally last for years.

Olé Roy dog twists-raw hide free-$7.97 at Walmart. There is about 50 sticks in the bag. I’m not sure how many but a lot.

That brand also has other types of dog treats very reasonable.

My dog loves them and they are at least halfway good for her.

She’s never had any problem with them.

Rawhide is bad for dogs! Frozen carrots boiled in bone broth that is safe for dogs is a good healthy option.

            Or even cucumbers

Please do NOT give rawhide!!! That’s the worst thing you can give a dog. I know they’re cheaper but buy the bully sticks.

So much better & safer for your furbaby.

Raw hide can make your dog stick. Deer or elk antlers are a little pricey but last longer and great for their teeth and good on digestion.

I always ask people that I know hunt if they have any as well

Go to Marshals and look for the toys made from fire hose material. Nyla bones are good to. Rawhide is a choking disaster waiting to happen.

Most are bleached and chemical laden made in china.

Same with humans…. It’s maddening the crap out there for our pets that is really bad for them.

Raw hides and the like are SO BAD for your dog. They can make dogs ill or even kill them. Ask your vet. Get your dog a Kong toy.

They are indestructible, so pieces won’t be swallowed by your dog.

Our breeder recommends marrow bones from cows, given to him frozen. His teeth are beautiful and they keep him busy for hours.

I just call the meat dept ahead at the grocery store and ask to have them cut about 3 inches – he can’t get the marrow out I’d they’re longer.

Usually 2-3 are $5-6.00. I always give him one when company comes. He chews on that bone for a couple days too.

He a lab so not a small dog.

My niece grows pumpkins in her garden and then cuts them up and puts the pieces in the freezer.

You’re probably looking for a longer lasting chew but this treat costs nothing except the seeds to plant the plant, their dog just loves this frozen treat and its good for her.

Antlers or real bones. I bought bully sticks a couple times and didn’t feel they were any better than rawhide, plus a lot more money.

I find neither a good option.

I did a ton of research and these are what my dog loves..
                              Pet stages dog wood chew
                              Better bone hard chew toy
For a actual bone type item

Red barn cheek rolls get a few hours out of my heavy chewer
                              The redbarn classic.

white beef bones are made to be less likely to be harmful. I put peanut butter in it.

Redbarn sells variety bags for a decent price and I see them at TJ Maxx for about half price periodically

After a lot of research, those are the safest options that my dog doesn’t finish in like 30 minutes or less.

The only thing I give my Husky Shepherd is yak milk bones. They are not cheap but they last a long time and my opinion is they are better than rawhide

Had a dog break his back tooth from a Cong toy. Be vigilant. Sometimes it takes days before you notice their pain.

Look up recipes for frozen kongs. By a kong that you can put different ingredients in and freeze.

My dogs stay busy with those
