How do you celebrate a certain milestone of your FIRE journey. I’m about to cross the halfway mark of my FI number this year and I have the urge to spend big.
Like a trip or something that may cost me a pretty $$ (i.e. a “new” second hand car)
I try to talk myself out of it because that amount left untouched, it will grow and help me get to my finish goal faster. I still have half of the journey ahead of me.
But I want to give some thing nice for myself after years of frugality.
How do you talk you talk yourself out of this “lifestyle inflation”.
PS: I’m single, so I have no spouse/children or someone close to share this milestone.
I have friends/family, but FIRE is not something that they understand.
DavidEvery once in awhile it is ok to treat yourself if you are on track for FI and the treat won’t derail you.
MichelleTreat yourself by order and Read “Die with Zero” you will some what will talk yourself out of frugality.
KeithMaybe compromise on how much you pay for the trip. Depending on when and where you go you could save on the cost.
Congrats!!!
PeterI mean look at that amount you want to spend, how many years will that delay your number. Are you fine with it then sure go for it.
In the end though, you only live once so living in the moment is as important as future freedom as well.
ChristinaTomorrow is not guaranteed so spend it if it will not derail your FIRE journey.
