Single soul!!! Let’s share your frugal tricks and tips!!
Here are mine …
– I cook most of my meals in crockpot while I sleep then I portion it into 4-5 containers for my work lunch and dinner.– I work part time at local grocery store. I get an employee discount and I also get some leftover food home with manager’s approval.
– I do my own oil change and when weather is nice, I ride a bike to work
– I don’t have cable or home internet service because I can do everything on my smart phone and it is enough for me plus I receive a free streaming service on it.
– I volunteer a lot for a peace of mind and sometimes I get to do some light work out with it.
– I utilize library for entertainment purposes a lot.
– I crated a specific email address just for receive birthday freebies or special sale promotions.
– i cant grow anything to save my life, but luckily, i can do green onion ( just roots in water) so i thin slice and freeze them every weekend.
What’s yours??
KirstenJust as a warning- crockpots can start fires, I would not leave it on while you’re sleeping…same goes for dryers and dishwashers.
Especially if it’s a floor below you. Thanks for the other tips tho!
PatriciaThese are fantastic!! The most important thing I do is I mostly buy anything when it’s on sale and I then stock up – both food and necessities!
DianeI frequent the reduced meat bin at my local grocer. It near my house and I stop by frequently on my way home.
I grab a shopping basket (not a cart) & head straight to it, luckily for me the aisle that leads to it is the “baby” aisle, which I no longer have any need for and thus I am not tempted to impulse buy other products.
Whatever I find there I plan meals around. Sometimes I rack up and other times I find nothing, but I have managed to fill my freezer with a good selection of meats as a result of this practice.
I also batch cook about once a week and store portioned sized containers of food in my freezer and use sectioned microwavable plates which we carry lunches to work in.
Saves TIME the rest of the week (no real cooking and easy cleanup) AND money.
I also make use of coupons. I buy the bulk of my house hold supplies at $Gen/Fam $ stores (I do the same at Kroger and anywhere else I frequently shop) and ea of them run a downloadable $5 off 25 coupon almost every week and they give you a manual coupon for the same at checkout.
I clip coupons for other products like toilet paper and laundry detergent from their website as well.
I have used BOTH at the same shopping trip. I just have the cashier, stop when I reach the 1st $25, pay and then we do the second transaction.
I have that down to a fine art. I do paper goods one week, Laundry/cleaning the next, then Healthy & Beauty and then consumable goods after that.
I only use a second coupon at seasonal times (like when I buy charcoal at the beginning of BBQ season, etc).
This is another practice that little by little over time has allowed me to keep a 90 day supply of staple items which now days I only re-furbish.
There are weeks now when I don’t go at all because I don’t need anything.
FranAfter rooting the green onions in water. Plant them in a pot. You can’t kill them!
I’m about to try the same thing with celery.
