First, I just wanted to say how creative you all! Some of the ideas I’ve seen on here are priceless. I used to just go out and buy whatever I needed, but my mindset is now “Can I use something I already have?”
I actually just made wallpaper paste (starch and water) to fix wallpaper in my chicken coop!
my outdoor dining table. The set is in perfect condition except for the wicker that has broken. I’m wondering if you have any ideas…. It is covered by glass.
I was thinking a piece of plastic sheeting cut to size and maybe put some wallpaper on it? But wanted to see if you had any other ideas.
Thanks so much!
Jillmine is doing the same thing. My chairs are holding up great. I wonder if the glass top magnifies, the sunlight hurting the wicker underneath it?
I am excited for this post because I need to do something to mine also.
my first thought was a pretty printed paper, but that won’t hold up overtime.
This has to be able to withstand getting wet.
JennyUse a shower curtain on the table with glass on top. There are many beautiful shower curtain prints now.
DarlaI would buy oilcloth cut to size or find an oilcloth tablecloth that fits and use a staple gun or other tool to affix it to the frame, then place the glass on top.
LauraI went to the fabric store and got a cute beach themed piece of fabric attached to the table and then put the glass on top.
I love it and I can change it out for the seasons.
LindaLay your fav tablecloth underneath the glass?
Use your or someone else’s artistic skills and have a piece of art made to go underneath on a piece of plywood or other.
KathrynThere is a cloth backed vinyl called Oil Cloth. Many lovely patterns, wont rot.
Fabric shop.
CindyStain a piece of luan to fit slightly smaller. Try to stain in same color. The glass should profit from the summer elements.
I would put some plastic under it to prevent weathering underneath.
MelissaPiece of plywood cut to dimensions and attach tiles or broken ceramic pieces, then grout.
Lay on top and cover with glass
PamHow about a piece of hessian, with the edges tucked under and glued in place, then replace the glass?
MicheleRemove wicker and buy a piece of glass or plexi glass. Or support it from under and place glass to protect weak spot
