      Hi everyone,
I used to pop popcorn in the microwave using a glass popcorn popper, but unfortunately, it recently broke.

I’m looking for alternative ways to make popcorn in the microwave without it. Do you have any tips or methods that work well?

I’m especially interested in options that don’t require buying a new popper right away—maybe something using items commonly found at home, like a bowl, a paper bag, or anything else safe for microwave use.

Also, are there any safety precautions I should be aware of when trying these alternatives? I’d love to hear your experiences, suggestions, or any tricks you’ve found helpful.

      Thanks in advance!

I put couple tablespoons in a paper bag. Roll over the top to close. Microwave until minimal popping.

A paper bag with nothing in it but popcorn then melt the butter. Toss salt

I prefer stove top, a little olive oil in a boiler, (stir or shake to coat the kernels prior to popping) with a lid (let steam escape) over medium heat.

Top with powdered butter or cheese, or garlic powder or what ever you like..

You can pop corn in any pot or pan on the stove as long as it has a tight lid. Start low heat, add a little oil then popcorn.

Stirr for even heating. When the kernels start to pop add the lid then shake pan to agitate for even heating.

Turn off burner or remove from stovetop when mostly done popping.

I’m old school- Almost 70, and just night before last I showed my Granddaughters how to pop corn in oil on the stovetop with a lidded stock pot.

They laughed and laughed and said it tasted sooooo good!

Amazon has silicone popcorn makers for around $11. They pop delicious corn – buttered or not.

All of my friends have gone out and bought one for themselves they are so nice and the popcorn so delicious.

They fold down flat for storage.

We don’t anymore, but we used to use a clear glass bowl and a plate on top.

Now we just use an air popper we bought at a thrift store.

Add a very small amount of kernels in a brown paper lunch sack. Roll over edge tightly to seal and microwave until popping slows. I tried it once, it was fine.

Usually I just pop popcorn on the stove top (been doing it that way for 40+ years).

Use a lidded frying pan. Put some oil (filtered coconut oil tastes fresh) in a single layer loosely in the bottom, you can add a few tablespoons of butter if desired.

Pop over medium heat and move the pan constantly back and forth until popping almost stops.

Turn off heat and wait another 30 seconds until no more pop. Delicious! Put into a bowl and add a little salt on top if desired.
