I wanted to mention that sometimes being frugal includes a splurge now and then. Had a really tough morning. CT scan and now I have questions about whether I should continue my very physical job.

I figure spending 20 bucks on breakfast, including a generous tip, and speaking with people to get my mind off my overthinking is well worth that 20.

Cheaper than therapy or missing work.

Being frugal “most of the time” allows for freedom to do the things you need when you need to do them.

I did this day before yesterday. Sometimes I just need someone to bring me good, hot food. Btw, IHop currently has breakfast specials for $6, and they are good.

Our server had just needed to adopt her baby granddaughter.

          So, I left a $20 tip. It’s Christmas.

Fully agree. The whole idea with frugality is to spend intentionally. It’s the thoughtless habit of eating out or coffees on the run that kill the budget.

A thoughtful splurge (and the fact that you called it a splurge) means your are still on the right track.

Being frugal and self care can both be done!

Without the occasional self gift (I do not call it a a splurge) life is not worth living! I am frugal…I watch what I spend and I watch how to manage and increase my funds…. but I indulge in gifts to myself!

If we are not worth a “gift” every so often then who is?

$20 is a small amount to spend on yourself and after a morning having a CT you deserve it….so, stop thinking of it as a spurge and rethink it as a gift to yourself…. self.

Love is just as important as loving others.

Couldn’t agree more. As a therapist, therapy is also frugal it is actual priceless if it helps a client release unhealthy behaviors and beliefs.

Not all therapy is frugal if the client is ready or the therapist isn’t able to guide the client into healing journey

Yes. You have to LIVE and not just stress over not ever spending a dime.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with that. And sometimes being extra generous with a tip or buying something for someone or donating- it just makes us feel better- it’s healing to be kind.

Sometimes you just need to get through something and if it’s a nice meal and talking.

I say definitely well worth it

I do that now and then. Need to get your mind off things sometimes. Good luck to you.

That’s why we’re frugal…so we can enjoy the treats we want and need.

                          Best wishes for good health.

You are absolutely correct. I think of it as a balancing act, being frugal most of the time in order to be able to do the occasional splurge.

Time for a change in employment, huh? Sorry your physical condition is not the best.

Sometimes a change in life is a good thing. Spending that 20 bucks was probably better than a $150 trip to a therapist.

I hope you find a job that’s not so taxing on your body. Take care.

That’s not a splurge, that is seriously needed health related therapy required for higher levels of dopamine and other body chemical balancers allowing you to properly react to and handle issues that have developed in your life.

I have had those CT’s and the hour long Brain MRI’s are common for me I have one coming up. I have epilepsy.

I do think that having that $20 breakfast and getting out and speaking with people was worth it.

Being alone is not worth it. Quality of life is important.

We save so we can enjoy. For me this week. It was buying 2 of my fancy coffees.

                                    Instead of just 1.

I am very frugal but there is reward to treat yourself . As in a few years u would prefer great memories over a bank account that u are no longer mentally or phyically capable of drawing the rewards
