I travel so much I keep things like flour in my freezer (to keep bugs and stuff out of it). My question is I have yeast in my freezer from last year.
Do you think it would still be good?
VersieI don’t think I would risk it, yeast is not real expensive unless you have a whole can.
CathyI keep mine in the freezer and never had a problem, like Pamela said, test it to see if it’s active.
PamelaI keep mine in the freezer and have not had an issue with it yet you can test it by adding some to hot water and see if it Is still active
AshleyI keep mine the freezer. The last bag I had was from 2022 and I finished it in Nov 2024.
It may take more time to activate but it should still do its thing! Test it if you aren’t sure.
Nolawhile it might not hurt you to eat it, the yeast bacteria might not have as much pep.
LoriI watched a bread video and an older woman says it lasts indefinitely in the freezer
DorisMy frozen yeast is still good after years in freezer 10+. I just take out what I need and put back in freezer.
I make sure it is active by letting it get bubbly in a little warm water with a teaspoon of sugar before adding to flour mixture.
