      Your thoughts appreciated:
I was gifted a very nice table and chair set this week. It was made much better than the one I had been using for nearly 20 years.

I have no storage for the one that now needs to go.

My 19 year old is likely to be moving out sometime in the next couple months and I would gift it to her.

However, that would mean it is sitting here in the middle of the living room until then. I could take the legs off and make it a bit ‘smaller’.

Other option is that I don’t worry about what she made need to get started and try selling it on market place . What would you do?

I live in a rural area so yard sales aren’t conducive to our situation.

Sell it on Let Go, then use the cash to help with what she needs when she moves out.

I’d save it, walk around for six months. Taking the legs off is a great idea

Legs off and store it under the bed?
Personally, I would ask the 19 year old if they even want it..

that way you are not saving something they don’t want

first question is to ask her if she wants it. it’s only a couple of months.

make due and save it for her if she wants it.

I’d downsize it as much as possible and then put it in THEIR room…it’s their boon, not yours…

Sounds like you have two choices store it with the possibility that your daughter will want it or put it on market place.

Can your daughter give you an answer now?

That alone could help you make the choice.

Definitely ask her if she wants it and if she is going to rent a house or an apartment. Unfortunately, some apartments are not designed with dining area or room for a kitchen table.

All three of my kids apartments had either a large kitchen island or a bar overhanging countertop for barstools.

None needed a dining table til they rented a house.

One home my son rented had the great room so again no place for a table just the island.

If she likes it I would store it like others have suggested and it will be one less expence.

If it doesn’t fit well in her new space then turn to marketplace.

                        YOU partly answered it…
Take the legs off. Slide it behind the sofa, legs under the sofa. Ta-da!

Have you asked her yet? She’ll probably be able to answer you right then.

If she doesn’t want it, then you can sell it on marketplace….

If your daughter wants the old set: Take the legs off and tuck it behind another piece of existing furniture (bookshelf, sofa, under a bed, etc.)

Put one of each chair in other rooms; like living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry, etc.

Or a couple around your new set for added seating. Or maybe porch if protected from the weather.

sell it on MP. There are always things popping up on there. She’ll be able to find what she needs when the time comes.

I’ve given away as much as I can to 3 of ours & helped them FB shop for deals.

Kind of a fun thing when they are moving into a new place.

We kept everything we could for our daughter and she had a nice amount of furniture when she moved out.

It was sometimes inconvenient but I think it really helped her and it is hard for kids to get a start these days.

If you can find a way I would hang on to it.

Ask your daughter what she wants to do. If she says keep remove legs and place with hardware in table and use plastic wrap to secure the legs inside of the table.

Slide under a bed or in the back of a closet.

Place the chairs in other rooms.

If she says sell it sell it.
