So I sold a property and invested it all in voo
      Am down 10%

70% in Voo and was going to go full voo and chill and invest rest but not sure now

Was wanting to draw down my 4% each year starting this year but not sure this is wise atm

Any advice from previous market drops and drawing down straight away

      Thanks

      Should I keep investing?

I look at the PE Shiller ratio and expect a bit more of a dip than we’re at today, with RE Syndications likely outperforming the stock market over the next 3-5 years.

Not direct investment advise since I don’t have a crystal ball, but worth sharing.

Unpopular Opinion: I think international investments (20-40%) are an important part of your portfolio. VXUS, VWO….

Brace yourself for the “this time is different” crowd. My advice: delete this post as you will get bombarded from the fear mongering

Paul Merriman tells a story about a client that fire him as an advisor.
The client told him well you lost me money.

              You lost me about 10%.
Paul said we did talk about the market ups and downs right?
              Client said yes.

Paul said we did talk about 10% drops were fairly common and happened about every other year right?

              Client said yes.
Paul said well I don’t understand why you are leaving.

Client said….well I just thought you meant you would make me money first before I lost some money.

If you’re at the drawdown stage, then a 100% equities asset allocation doesn’t make sense for most people.

Unless you have a very high, very aggressive risk tolerance.

If you plan to “VOO and chill” then you should have a 10+ year time horizon before needing the money.

So, the problem you’re experiencing is asset allocation. Your asset allocation should match your situation and risk profile.

If you’re truly at the drawdown stage and nervous about a 10% (and likely more) drop, your asset allocation isn’t right and you should explore a 50/50 or even 40/60.

                VOO and BND, then chill.

                  Divide Between VOO/QQQ/VTI/VXUS
It’s always good to diversify between US and World Markets!

Your first statement is you invested it all in VOO. Your third statement is you invested 70% in VOO.

                    So, which is it?

If you are 70% VOO 30% cash, then you take your 4% current year withdrawal out of the cash.

                    Diversification.

From mid-February to late March 2020, I was down about 35% and fully recovered by July 2020.
