I use hand sanitizer as facial cleanser which is $0.12 an ounce, much cheaper than regular facial cleanser.
a budget-friendly hack for oily skin and acne, thanks to its alcohol content. But is it safe? Could it cause more harm than good, like dryness or irritation?
Have you ever tried it, and what was your experience? Share your thoughts!
EmilyI don’t recommend that, as this can cause damage to your skin. You have healthy bacteria that live on your skin, and the alcohol damages that.
It also will leave your skin extremely dry. But that’s just my recommendation, to each his own.
LisaJust because you can do something and it’s cheaper than something else doesn’t mean you should.
You’d be better off to use whatever you use on your hair or body.
That’s not great but better than what you ate doing
CrystalNo! You are going to damage your skin. Also, hand sanitizer does not clean that well.
I would use Dawn dish Soap before I use any form of hand sanitizer.
KelseyDo not do this unless you want major issues later. Literally any other product you already have would be better.
Plain water, body wash, body soap, dish soap, nothing, are all better choices than hand sanitizer.
LoreeSounds like it would be very drying leading to other skin issues and needing other products to fix them, but to each their own
AnnieI’d recommend just using a bar of soap rather than hand sanitizer if cost plays a factor.
I think the alcohol would be bad for the skin on your face over time and dangerous if near your eyes.
ElissaDon’t use products for skin and hair that contain alcohol. It dries the skin and hair out.
Dry skin = wrinkles.
KimberleyYou would be better off just using water. Please stop doing this. It is not healthy for you.
CharlieNo no no… just don’t. The alcohol in it is very drying. You would be better off using bar soap but then again I wouldn’t use that on my face.
I save elsewhere in order to get good facial products.
JohnYour dermatologist will love you and take all the money you saved using hand sanitizer on your face.
TrulyDollar tree has a gentle facial cleanser similar to Cetaphil and one bottle lasts months
GailI love witch hazel. Has a bit of alcohol in it. Plus, witch hazel, a mild astringent.
SarinaWho am I to say don’t. My husband has been using 90% rubbing alcohol as after shave for close to 45 years.
He has flawless skin.
I would have had all kinds of skin issues if I were to use rubbing alcohol on my face.
ElizabethHonestly you should be using the men’s facial cleanser/shampoo/conditioner/shaving cream/engine oil/baja
blast/mouthwash/deoderant 8-in-1 comboJamieThen just get a bottle of alcohol and wipe your face with that, bet it would be less than .01 a day.
PattyYou do you. Whatever works for you. But, just be careful. You could really dry out your skin.
SarahDo you use anything else? And can we see a close up of your face, just really curious.
DinaThey have face cleanser at the dollar store, just water is better than sanitizer too.
I don’t even wash my face with anything but water most of the time and use some moisturizer.
Sarain high school I used regular body lotion on my face until someone sat me down with a chat… this sounds awful!
I can’t imagine licking my lips and getting it in my mouth either, ugh.
You can’t be that cheap about somethings
JillI use the big soft soap refill bottles for body wash and to wash my hair.
My hair and skin are soft and clean and it lasts a long time.
So much cheaper than buying body wash and shampoo all the time.
AnnmarieWhy would you use alcohol on your face? Why would you strip your face’s healthy oils & bacteria away? All to save some pennies.
You can find better facial care options at the DT if money is the issue.
Or check out store brands products to comparable brand names.
Walmart Equate brand is good & very affordable.
