Looking for recommendations for gifts for our 2 yr old nephew that we can contribute to annually (in the range of $50) until he’s 18. I did a bond for his 1st birthday, but had trouble transferring it.
I’m looking for thoughtful annual gift ideas that I can give every year. Ideally, I’d like these gifts to be meaningful, enjoyable, and perhaps something he can look back on as he grows up.
I’m open to creative suggestions, whether they’re gifts that encourage hobbies, support his education, or are just plain fun. Do you have any ideas for gifts that a young boy might appreciate over the years, and that might also give him good memories or skills?
Thanks in advance for your help!
ChrissyA 529 account is the perfect answer for this!
KamiI opened 529 for my nieces. We contribute 100 each year for their birthday.
Robbeing that you can gift someone $18k tax free, put it where it will grow the best, since you are unlikely to hit that number with annual $50+ gifts by age 18…
Not tax free, so you would have to pay the taxes on the gains…
BeckyWe opened a 529 for each grandchild. Contribute for various occasions then once the account hits xxx (you decide) start a UTMA investing in FIRE funds like VTSAX.
As they’ve gotten older, we also give them a $xxx experience fund for Xmas that parents can use for things like swimming lessons, soccer, basketball etc… those extra activities cost a fortune!
