I have 3 coworkers that are pregnant, a nephew graduating high school, and a shower and wedding for a good friend of my son.
All are people I am not very close to except my nephew on my husband’s side.
My husband comes from a very big family so very expensive gifts are not expected. All of these are over the next few months.
Any ideas of inexpensive gifts?
Francessdo not pay for your co-workers gifts. they have family and showers that they will be receiving gifts from and you are not obligated.
send them a well wishes card. take care of the graduating nephew/good friend of your son.
I keep all gifting to a max of 5% of all income per month.
ShelI made cute baskets for everyone from Dollar tree
Instead of wrapping paper, I used a receiving blanket in one of their tubs and all kinds of baby things.VeronicaSomething small of their registry. Honestly they’ll appreciate that more than something random.
If there’s nothing in your price range or nothing speaks to you I suggest made ahead meals for the freezer!
It’s something new moms are SO appreciative of and takes something of their too do list!
MaryFor pregnant coworkers see if people from work will go in together for a gift. Otherwise you can find new baby clothes at thrift store.
For high school graduation give gift card or cash so they can buy items for college if going or use for job.
Depending on finances consider not going to the wedding shower and just go to the wedding or other way around.
PatriceFor pregnancies. Diapers! Not newborn but a size or 2 up from that because you never know when the baby will suddenly outgrow the size you have!
For the graduate. A gas gift card. Or food gift card.
Wedding/shower. Restaurant quality cooking sheets!
Have had mine for over 20 years and have not had to replace them!
Best investment I ever made in the kitchen. Also, a silpat liner. Love mine
JoannI suggest gift cards for all at stores or places they frequent in amounts you feel appropriate
KlaraI think gauze receiving blankets for the coworkers are awesome inexpensive gifts that are so handy, used daily, and continue to be useful well beyond the swaddling stage.
Another option for coworkers is make ahead and freeze some meals (breakfast and dinner casseroles).
TamaraI always look at what’s on sale for a baby shower. I can usually find an inexpensive outfit for the baby.
Same for wedding showers look for something for their kitchen.
For your nephew I would give him check in an amount that seems right to you.
Nothing needs to break the bank.
CourtneyFor the coworkers, I wouldn’t necessarily go out of your way for a gift. If your work does a little shower, get each one a box of diapers or wipes.
Don’t buy them blankets or clothes. They will get so many. It’s also quite likely that everyone at work may go in together on a gift and you could just contribute.
For your nephew, cash. Whatever amount you can comfortably give.
For the wedding, find something reasonable from the registry, buy a gift card, or give cash. They will likely have some lower budget items on the registry that they will need, things like spatulas, trash cans, etc.
Those gifts aren’t glamorous, but they are appreciated and used!
StaffordBaby gifts – cute outfit (lots of options at reasonable prices)
Bridal shower- a great family recipe and a nice set of matching pot holders and dish towels
(TJ Maxx)Wedding – bottle of champagne and champagne flutes
Graduation- if he’s going to college, a tool kit, a few IKEA bags or AirTagsJillFor a graduate who is going on to college you could give some desk supplies.
My favorite gift was a stapler!
DenaCar washes have memberships now and there are some good packages.
For babies, socks are great.AnnieA gift card to somewhere they’re registered, in a nice card. If you want to do more – Attach to a package of baby wipes for the babies, a small jug/box of laundry detergent for the graduate, and something small from the wedding registry.
For showers I also like to purchase the slotted spoons, ladle, etc and tie them up with pretty ribbon to make the bride a utensil bouquet.
TheresaFor the prego coworkers a box of wipes is normally appreciated and loved! And sometimes cheaper than things they have on the registry. You also know they’ll use it.
High school kids – I did a gift card and college essential gift. Gift cards were $5/pc and were to Starbucks, subway, McDonald’s, Taco Bell.
I put it will top ramen, Mac n cheese and flavor drink packs. Or just plain cash.
As for the wedding, I like doing date night packs. Gift card to the movies, or Dave n busters, local bowling alley, or fun date themes or ideas.
Help them build their relationship further. It’s not something they normally get but it helps them still date while being newly broke. Also, money towards honeymoon.
For bridal showers depending on how much I know the person I’ll do the same. Or we have a cheap massage place that does a great job. Help the bride to distress before the big day.
I like practical over just something. Everyone can always use money.
But sometimes coupons for freezer meals, or babysitting, housecleaning, can go a long way to.. or offering your time to set up, or a skill that might help.
best of luck!
AngelFor the pregnant women, a box of wipes would be very useful. You can usually get them around 20$ depending on brand.
For the wedding, a gift card to their favorite restaurant.
They can use it on an anniversary and you can put however much you like on it.
The nephew I’m clueless on.
MicheleGo to restaurants that has promotions for gift cards. Spend $50 get $10.
New moms will love the treat, honeymoon era and even graduate
