Libraries have so much more than books! Many of them have concerts, crafts, museum passes and more!

My area has free bands in the parks on Thursday, Fridays and often on Saturdays during the summer.

                Lots of people dance.

Some parks have free outdoor movies in the summer, on different nights from the bands.

Music at the parks but there’s always food/drinks vendors that tempt my husband.

Monthly outdoor kids’ movies at the ampitheatre.

Summer programs for kids at the library. That’s about it.

Even an hour’s swim at the pool is $7 per person so we just stay home all the time as it’s the only free option.

Only exception is the weekly farmers market where wandering is free but I buy our summer produce there so it’s not technically free but it’s an event wrapped up with grocery shopping that I’m going to do anyways.

We have lots of venues (festivals somewhere close most every week end) that include free music from local musicians, then the local colleges have free recitals at the school of music.

The colleges also have art galleries, museums that are free and put on low cost summerstock style plays regularly.

We also enjoy watching the free independent league baseball and softball games (not to mention T-Ball, the little kids are so cute) at our park and Recreation facilities.

We also enjoy fishing at the public parks that have lakes or near rivers.

Our nearby town is BIG on Football (University of Alabama) and tailgaiting with friends (& watching the game on the Jumbo Trons is free if the game is sold out and it almost always is) is cheaper than eating a meal out.

We also take turns & rotate homes to gather with friends have a meal (usually something like a taco bar, spaghetti or fish fry) and play cards or board games or do a TV event (we were all big Fans of Yellowstone) about once a week.
