I buy non candy treats for Halloween. I go to the store Nov 1 and get the toys or non candy items for next year.

I buy non-candy treats (spider ring, pirate rings, glow sticks, glow necklaces, glow bracelets, fall spaced erasers, pencils . . .)

after Halloween when they are on sale and use them for the next year.

I am passing out swiss miss hot chocolate packets. Costco has them on sale right now for about $0.12 per packet.

I have done it in the past and kids are excited to get it.

We went to a trunk or treat event tonight to get treats to hand out to the children in our community.

It’s so fun to trick or treat but my kid doesn’t need all that candy!

I’m not buying candy this year, however I have rice crispy treats, juice pouches, fruitsnacks, and leftover candy my kids don’t eat that I will be giving out.

Costco has Welch’s gummy’s 160 count for $5. We bought 3 boxes and will be handing them out

I get fruit snacks. The big boxes at Costco are reasonably priced. On Amazon too. Most kids like them.

I wonder if, given the amount of candy loot kids get, it wouldn’t be ok to not put on your lights this season.

It likely won’t impact the goblins but may impact you positively as far as finances….

If I’m a grinch I apologize I’ve never really needed to be concerned so my thought is academic not real time

When I was a kid (dating me) little old ladies would make popcorn balls and Carmel apples and sometimes homemade cookies.

I know they can’t do it anymore, but it was great!

I’ve bought brightly colored pencils on oriental trading and the kids loved them.

One year I ran out of candy. All I had was instead of candy was instant oatmeal packages.

Believe it or not the kids and parents loved the treats!

                                Mints, little candies, jolly ranchers

I usually stop by Aldi to find a good price on treats

I purchased a case of Goldfish snack crackers at Costco. I also got a large bag of chocolate candy minis.

I like to give full size candy bars. But because I was off work on short term disability for 12 weeks and just getting back to work, I’m gonna have to go buy some stuff from the dollar tree.

                                    Next year will be better.

Jumbo freezies, if you buy them at the end of summer when they go on sale.

We always got thirsty and liked when people had a tray of cold water bottles.

Some companies make mini ones with a Halloween design

We gave out cold bottles of water to the parents last year and most of the kids asked for water too

My boys got so excited for Ramon Noodles because I didn’t buy them

I ordered stickers from Amazon. Pumpkin and you make up the faces. They will have enough candy, though I bought a bag of p Trader Joe individual wrapped candies.

Whatever your budget allows. Some people get stickers, pencils, fruit snacks and little toys. But don’t forget the bigger kids.

It’s such a blast, like one big party filling the streets.

I have given out those glow sticks in the past and the kids like them. Honestly, I hate to spend money on cheap Candy just to have it be thrown out.

I usually pass out either little bags of chips or individual rice crispy squares, or little packets of gummy snacks.

They might be a little more, but at least it’s something that probably won’t get thrown out.

They have great deals on the little bags of chips and candy at Costco.

we usually have about 80 kids.

I no longer pass out candy. But year-round I have a little free library with just children’s books in our front yard. It is our year-round gift to the neighborhood children.

Most of the books are donated and left on our door step but I occasionally buy bags of books to replenish it at the library book sale or the thrift store when they are having a book sale.

I read some of these and it saddens me, that Halloween just seems to no longer be fun for the kids. I understand we want to be frugal. But we know about this date a yr in advance.

And it’s 1 day. I am not saying my way is better than anyone else’s.

But, at least the kids look forward to trick or treating at my house.

I just purchase the little Debbi individually wrapped cakes and stuff like that, so they can have a snack for their lunch boxes or after school treat.

I make pumpkin dog treats for the furries, & single applesauces for the littles.

And when on sale these things were cheaper than a pc of candy.
