I have a lot of crumbs left from rice cereal. Is there anything I can do with it? I am trying not to waste anything.

I really don’t like wasting food, so I’m looking for creative or practical ways to use them rather than just throwing them away.

Have you ever reused cereal crumbs like this in cooking or baking? Can they be used in recipes, or maybe as a coating or filler for something?

I’d love to hear any suggestions—whether sweet or savory!

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Mix with peanut butter/nut butter (and a sweetener if unsweetened nut butter). Shape into balls and refrigerate. Cover or drizzle with chocolate if desired.

Can also add chia seeds and oats!

Use as a pastry crust. Can mix with pretzels or granola, or graham crackers

Add to granola or oat crumble topping
Drizzle honey or maple syrup and add to yogurt.

Adding lemon juice makes a tart lemon tart feel

I used to use in pancake or waffle batter, replacing maybe 1/4 of the flour with misc cereal crumbs. You have to adjust for sugar.

            Some can be very sweet.

Leftovers cornbread was the best, in my opinion.

If it doesn’t have a flavoring already. You can toss it in a little warm butter, to coat.

Then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and use to top ice cream.

              Or bread French toast.

Keep in fridge until ready to use

Add it to meatloaf. We do this with our cheerio crumbs.

Add sugar, spices & butter & use as a strudel topping on muffins, pudding etc.

Mix with parmigiana cheese. Coat chicken breast’s with a little mayo.

Dredge in the cereal & cheese mixture and bake.

Use it in place of bread crumbs for any recipe. Use it bread chicken.

Rice Krispie treats. The standard recipe uses 1/2 stick of butter, 10 oz of marshmallows and 6 cups of cereal so depending on the amount of cereal you have there, modify and voila.

I melt in a sprayed plastic bowl in the microwave for 2 minutes for the whole recipe.

Add to cookies for extra crunch. Make rice crispie squares recipe but sub this or add to amount. Cut in squares or roll into balls.

Mix with melted choc chips, peanut butteror frosting to make a treat.

Use as coating for chicken or fish.

I’d get some chocolate, honey, make a no bake bar. Mix the cereal with honey, pay into a pan with wax paper, freeze for 20 min, melt chocolate and pour on top, freeze again for at least 30 min.

                              Then cut! Should be good

Crush them up and add some butter, add to top of casseroles.
Make a version of rice krispy treats or cereal bars with marshmallow and chocolate.

Use on top of ice cream ☺️ hope these ideas help!

Use instead of graham cracker crumbs to make a pie shell. I like to use crushed Cheerios as a pie crust recipe substitute like you would use graham crackers.

Get a little peanut butter on a spoon, dip it in the crumbs and eat it! I just did it with granola pieces for breakfast.
