If someone hit you, and you have their insurance info, make a claim with their company.

This way you don’t have to pay your deductible.

Pay for it out of pocket or have higher insurance rates for 3+years

Always through your insurance, you literally pay them to deal with this for you

Your insurance will make a claim against the at fault’s insurer

My aunt’s husband just backed her Lexus out of their garage and into a trailer that was parked in their driveway. $16,000 and the Lexus SUV with 30,000 miles on it was totaled.

              We are talking 20 feet.

You might be surprised. Get the estimate and then make your game plan.

If you havecomp/collision coverage your insurance will pay for it and deal with everything… Otherwise it’s on you to get the other car’s insurance to pay for it or take the driver to small claims court if they don’t have insurance.

Get an estimate first. It’s often cheapest to have the other driver just pay to fix your car than involve insurance.

If it was private property many states are no fault states and you both pay your own way. Check local laws.

If it’s just a bumper cover prolly cheaper than your deductible unless your car is new enough to have Adas sensors that will need reprogrammed

                    Depends on where you’re located.
If u go thru insurance you would have your ins co call the other co.

You don’t call them. They won’t talk to you.

It completely depends on which state you live in. Get an estimate first to see how much the repair is.

Many times it is not worth making a claim, regardless of who is at fault.

There is an incredible amount of misinformation on here. Maybe 90% is incorrect. If someone hits you while you are parked, it’s their fault, period. Their insurance pays.

Your deductible doesn’t go up. Call your insurance company and they will facilitate.

                        Ignore everyone that states otherwise

Open a claim against their insurance and give your statement to the adjuster.

The adjuster will talk to their insured and make a determination of fault and what will be covered.

I am an insurance agent. Please get an estimate before making a claim! Most minor accidents like this are cheaper than your deductible.
