      Best frugal tips on tires?
I return to work next week which is about 45mins from where I live.

My front passenger tire is losing tread on the outer side, I am unable to get an alignment or a tire change done until I get caught up on bills and credit cards that have fallen behind (trying to build credit but was on LOA with no pay, so bills and credit cards fell behind).

What’s the best frugal advice when picking out tires? I need the tire to be as cheap as possible for now until I get caught up financially.

How do I maintain the tire before I can fix it?

There are no public transportation options that are frugal where I live.

Used tires will buy you a little time to address suspension and alignment.

Used tires can be deadly so prioritize getting new tires and an alignment asap. Bad tires are also deadly.

I’d pay for tires over credit cards

If you have an alignment or suspension issue that is causing uneven wear, there is nothing you can do to maintain it until the issue is repaired.

You can minimise the issue by rotating the tires, which will spread the wear over several tires instead of one.

But check your tire pressure – improper inflation can also cause uneven wear.

You can check with shops to see if they have a used tire for sale – they’re usually pretty cheap.

Or you can look on marketplace.

Any used tire shops in the area?
Check Buy Nothing; someone may have saved a full sized tire for a spare.

BTW, do you not have a spare?

Maybe ask on a local community site, possibly someone has some used tires they need to get out of there way that they would give you to get you by a little longer

Nothing is going to stop the wear on tires if you have suspension problems. When buying used tires check the date stamp and make sure they are not all dry rotted.

Read reviews on the tires you are looking to purchase.

I had Goodyear that came standard on my car and they were horrible in the rain even when they were brand new.

Cheap doesn’t necessarily mean bad and expensive doesn’t necessarily mean good either.

I like to stick with the major brands.

Check if there’s a shop that sells used tires. In a pinch we did and got them $35 each.

We get our tires at Walmart. They try to automatically add $15 per tire for the road service/ rotation option which we always refuse.

They have various tire grades and prices.

So, it might be a good idea to look into Walmart. I know in California that’s been my cheapest option.

I’ve gone online found the cheapest tire they offer (once I got a set of four for about $100, after getting mounted/balanced/put on it was about 175-200?) you might have to order ahead but I’d check
