We opted to buy our family a season pass to the trampoline park. It will pay for itself with 3 more hours of jumping and we still have 10 months on the membership!
So it takes us 30 minutes to drive there and we jump 2 hours.
So far we have been packing lunch and eating in the car or at a park before driving the 30 minutes back.
Today was warmer so it got me thinking about summer. We can’t eat in the car when it’s almost 90° with humidity around 70%!
Any ideas of where we could eat our packed lunches? Even if it means a small purchase somewhere?
RachelAre you allowed to take food inside of the building, could you eat in there?
DianeSoutherner Here.. First PARK in an area with the most shade you can find and put up windshield screens (Front & Back) while you Jump.
(We keep the folding cardboard kind laying in the back window area) Leave a couple of windows slightly cracked.
When ready to leave; Have the driver go to the car a few minutes ahead of the others..and roll down the windows turn the a/c on BLAST for a few seconds to blow some of the hot air out, and then eat with the a/c running.
Another trick we use is to take bottles 3/4 filled with water (tea or other beverages) freeze them and use them to help keep ice longer.
It takes longer for the block of ice in the bottles to melt than loose cubed ice.
Your problem is not where to eat, but how to keep your food from spoiling in High heat while you leave the car in the parking lot for 2 hrs while you jump.
Items made with mayo, tomatoes nor packets of condiments won’t do well left in a enclosed vehicle in High heat.
Rather pack items that can be eaten both cold/hot. Sometimes I take a partially frozen pk of ribs (wrapped in foil) or the like if we are going to be somewhere like a music festival where shade is sketchy on hot days.
AudraSounds like you normally eat in the car but are worried about the heat. So, wouldn’t turning on the car and letting the AC run to cool it down and then just eating in the car work?
If you are ok with a “small purchase” I would think the small amount of gas would count…
CindyAfter the trampoline park. Do pack peanut and bread, or granola bar with a cooler for drinks.
Should be able to make it home.
RachaelTexas here. You find a shade tree to sit under somewhere or you eat in the car with the AC.
AnnaWe sit under a tree nearby, or look for a local park/playground, and sometimes still eat in the vehicle.
We have a suburban, so I usually just open the trunk amd we can still sit in the back and windows down for air flow.
PennyI used to purchase season passes when the children were young. Each year I would do a different place, aquarium, amusement parks, living history museum etc.
It was nice to always have a place to go.
We always brought our own food, it would stay fresh in a cooler.
Sometimes we would eat on the go or in the parking lot, or find a place to park in the shade.
CocoI’d probably go really early. Just take water. Have something already planned for lunch at home.
SaraWe would go eat at Sam’s club. Pizza and drink for $2.50 — don’t know how much it is now.
Or, we’d hit the grocery store and grab deli meat, string cheese, chips, and we packed a cooler with drinks.
JohnEat at home before you go. eat when you get home. Unless some specific medical condition people can go without eating for 3-4 hours.
Maybe throw some drinks in a cooler.
DianaWhen we ate on the go we’d pull to an empty space under trees, open the trunk and just keep it open.
2 would sit on the edge of the open trunk, 2 on small folding stools we brought.
The ones closer to the car serve the food.
Or spread a blanket and sit on the ground, of it’s possible
Nikki-If there’s a large, busy hotel near you, you may be able to borrow a corner in their common area.
-Check out a big box store with a food court or a deli seating area. Think Costco, Wal-Mart, etc.
-A traditional mall or shopping center with common areas/play areas/rest areas/food courts.
Have fun!
AndreaIs a Sam’s Club close by? Great food at cheap, cheap prices!
Pizza is probably about the cheapest to feed a family on if you must punch food out.Check all your coupons/deals in advance & plan around that for Subway, etc
