I just switched jobs and am sad because I can no longer invest into Vanguard index fund. I need some advice.

The three investments I’m looking at all have an expense ratio of .05%. Is it better to go with the one that has the cheaper share price?

They all have just over 10% average return since inception.

      The three options I’m looking at are the S&P 500 @ $342 a share, S&P 400 @ $114 a share and the S&P 600 @ $111 a share.

Also, should I roll over my 401k from VINIX which currently has larger returns then S&P?

I would roll your 401k out to an IRA, not your new company’s plan

Share price is 100% irrelevant. Post expense ratios and ticker symbols

You should first consider what asset classes you’re looking to hold.
            S&P500 is large-cap blend
            S&P400 is mid-cap blend
            S&P600 is small-cap blend

Are you trying to mimic the total US stock market by holding all three?

VINIX tracks the S&P500. What fund are you comparing it against?

I would advise running regression analyses of various other funds versus your current Vanguard funds to find which one has a correlation coefficient closest to one.

No not necessarily better it just depends how diverse you want to be since each fund tracks different amount of companies in that index.

The S&P has like a 99% correlation with vtsax, so no reason to be too upset about this.

It’s going to produce comparable results over the long run.

Expense ratios below 0.1% are all fine. Share prices of index funds are irrelevant.

the three S&P indices you have mentioned are completely different. If you want to stick with a single fund, S&P 500 is enough.

If you want to use all three, I would stick with 80% S&P 500 and 10% each for the other two (but the long term returns have been almost the same to 100% S&P 500).

If you have VINIX (which is a slightly cheaper S&P 500 fund) in an old 401k, and if the plan doesn’t charge additional fees, you can leave it there.

I roll any old employers retirement into my own IRA. Now I invest in whatever I want and sell covered calls against it and significantly increase my returns.
