Many people use TT, Free Tax USA, and the online version of H&R Block. Depending on the complexity of your situation, some are better than others.
If you are just now thinking about taxes on April 14, I am guessing yours are not too complex and FTUSA might work.
I use H&R block but ours is super complex.
RonFreeTaxUSA is tons better than TurboTax and includes all types of forms for free for federal.
State is $14.99.
BarbaraI switched from TurboTax to FreeTaxUSA last year and wish I had done it years ago!
KaylaI use FreeTaxUSA. Also, some states will allow you to directly e-file simple returns on their .gov website.
If you live in one of those states, you can file the federal return through FreeTaxUSA for free and then e-file the state return for free directly with the state.
MeganTax accountant here – TT and HR block have countless issues – and so many problems I’ve had to correct for folks!
for simple taxes I recommend FreeTaxUSA! Sometimes I wish I could use them over my tax software for clients because it’s easy peasy!
LeeI have used taxact for 17 years, they wanted $99.90 for having schedule C now, so I switch to Free Tax USA this year.
