There should be more meat sales coming up because of Father’s Day.
PalomaI grew up poor and hungry and not trusting life. This drove me to buy a place in the country so I can have animals, a garden and a water source.
If you can, try for any kind of self sufficiency you are able to have. I know not everyone is able bodied (I’m disabled myself) and that if you live in an apartment it can be a challenge but no one knows how bad the food shortages may get.
Potatoes grown in a pot may not seem like much but it may be everything if the shelves ever become bare in the supermarket.
BethWish I could comparison shop. 18 MI round trip to walmart, 45 MI round trip to homeland, 80 MI round trip to anything else. With the gas prices it’s just too costly. You who have choices are lucky!
DeborahI haven’t really seen the increase in food. I still can get chicken under 2 dollars a pound. I shop whatever is on sale. The most increase is gas.
NormaYes, because everything, everywhere has not gone up. My Sav-a-Lot put out their flier today. $1.49 lb for country style ribs, $1.39 for bone in loin end pork chops, and $.99 lb for a pork loin roast, $1.49 for a container of grape tomatoes, and $3.99 lb for cherries.
RhondaI have two stores very close to my home that offer pretty good deals. I am not a big eat eater at all, so in the summer I shop my local farners markets for fresh fruits and veggies and purchase mostly store brands. I suspect as meat prices continue to rise more folks will be looking at more meatless options.
As gas prices continue to rise, food prices will also.
HaroldStart a garden. You can grow things on your porch if you don’t have a lawn.
JessicaJust a suggestion also, I notice my grocery bill is significantly less when I don’t buy meat. There are plenty of high protien meals that can be made with beans, lentils, eggs etc. We are a family of 3 living in San Diego, not a cheap place to begin with, and sometimes I can keep my grocery bill around $100 a week if I skip the meat.
KarleyLol that works if you actually have more than one store close by! I can shop H‑E‑B or Dollar General if I want a Walmart it’s at least 25 minutes one way and they don’t have deals like the H‑E‑B does so it’s not cheaper and it’s farther to drive. So if you live in a big city that might work but not when your in a small town.
FarrahWith gas prices the way they are driving around to a bunch of different stores makes no sense.
