We are going to be traveling near an Aldi in the next week…I keep hearing about all the good deals they have. So, if you shop there, what is the one thing you look for that you can’t find a better price on at other stores…
Since we don’t have an Aldi nearby and don’t get to shop there often, I’d love to make the most of this visit.
For those of you who regularly shop at Aldi — what’s the one item you *always* buy there because you can’t find a better price (or value) for it at other stores?
It could be something unique to Aldi, a pantry staple, a favorite snack, or even something seasonal or from the Aldi Finds section.
I know their prices are generally lower, but I’m looking for those stand-out items that really make a difference in your grocery budget or shopping experience.
Thanks in advance for sharing your tips! I’m excited to see what I should keep an eye out for.
Rina-Avocado oil
-bagged small avocados
-liquid egg whites
-yellow/red onions-sweet potatoes
-some spices
-chicken thighs
-kiwis-cherry tomatoes
-masa(ground corn to make tortillas)-pasture raised eggs
-plastic storage baggiesAliceThey have the best chicken salad! It’s worth asking if you can’t find it. Also, chocolates are a real treat
JoyceOh, their pasta sauce .. the clean one just like Rao but only 2.19 at my store and their pasta
PatriciaThey have these chocolate covered kinda fancy cookies that come in a long thin box. In my Aldi’s it’s $2.50.
they come in milk chocolate and dark chocolate. I like the dark chocolate.
JessI find cheese, eggs, yogurt, nuts, breakfast/snack bars to be better prices at Aldi. Certain breads
Dates (the best dates ever!)Produce is cheaper too!
I havent compared meat and poultry prices recently, but I think Aldi is cheaperJoyceDefinitely cheese! The fancy ones and the classics, Irish butter, guacamole cups, moser Roth dark chocolate bars, Asian stir fry (frozen) and then I put their sirloin beef tip (cut into strips) with it, grass fed beef, purified water, produce (apples, oranges, lemons, ginger, brocolli, cucumbers, carrots, spinach, garlic stuffed olives and jalapeño stuffed olives, 90 second quinoa and brown rice
ConnieEnglish cucumber, marinated olives, block feta, and the flat bread I use to make pizza at home is a $1 less than anywhere else.
Kefir is also much less at Aldi and very good for you!
AngelRaisin bread is better then the brand names. Be careful of produce, it’s good but don’t buy a lot because it seems to spoil quickly.
Nuts are good & definitely cheaper than grocery stores.
AlbertaWe like almost all that Aldi offers. We say try it once, if you don’t like it, do a different brand but always try it.
BeckyThey have their own brand of cereal, organic produce is reasonably priced.
They have seasonal items in the freezer and on a certain shelf that you should look at.
KathleenThey have a brand of salty snacks…Clancy. Good quality, seem less greasy than our named brands and way cheaper.
KateIn the meat case, they have an herb seasoned turkey roast. There are 2 in the pkg. I freeze them separately.
Great price for a good meal.
JenniferI make my own now, bit I used to buy their sourdough bread. No fake ingredients and no preservatives.
Just flour, water, salt and sourdough starter.
DianeThey have a lot of gluten-free and low-carb/keto items if you’re looking for that. I think those are much cheaper than other stores.
a lot of canned foods are cheap cheaper. Also cat litter.
While their produce is often cheaper, I don’t think they last as long as the produce from Kroger in Publix.
I’d rather buy from those stores and just buy when they’re on sale.
BettyLoved their flavored water—no sugar and grape, strawberry, raspberry and our favorite peach. It’s 24 bottles for under $8.00 and it’s addictive.
Love Aldi, so much cheaper and better!
GwenA while back I did some taste tests with several items that I regularly use. I found that I did not like the taste of the Aldi products in comparison.
Many people love Aldi, have fun trying some things for yourself and see what you think!
SamRule #1: Check ingredients.
Aldi is known for its exceptional treasures and trash. It’s up to shoppers to figure out which is which.
JulieI think it depends on where the Aldi is located. Both in my area are nothing special.
They sell off-brand products at brand-name prices.
DeniseCheeses and other dairy products. Frozen single ingredient foods and some fresh produce. Canned tuna and salmon. We eat very healthy and cook from scratch.
Aldi is my go to for 80% of my weekly groceries and I used to be a Team Leader for Whole Foods Market
I second loys of things others have listed. Another big plus is the twice back return policy.
Bring in whatever you don’t care for and they refund your $ plus allow a replacement item at the same price.
ConnieI have found the most unusual gifts and useful home things in their merchandise area. Went in for cheese and came out with a compost box.
You never know what they’ll have.
It’s definitely worth it to check.
