Does anyone know of a dishwashing soap for handwashing that is a bargain and also works really well?
I’m looking for a dish soap that is budget-friendly but still does a great job at cutting grease and cleaning dishes efficiently.
It should be gentle on hands yet tough on stains.
If you have a go-to brand or a homemade solution that works well, I’d love to hear your recommendations! Also, do you have any tips on making dish soap last longer or work better?
Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks!
TaylorIve found less expensive dishsoaps don’t really save you money in the long run because you end up having to use more of it to get the job done.
I use the concentrated dawn and the big jug lasts me months because I only have to use a bit.
I also suggest getting a soap pump to dispense it, helps prevent using more than is needed.
JackieThere’s just nothing as good at grease cutting as Dawn and you use so little it’s really more economical.
DianeI make my own power wash from dawn and alcohol, but also use what ever I have a coupon for dishes that do not have a lot of grease or dried on food.
I find Ajax to be equivalent to Gain, Palmolive and often more economical.
LoriI think Jeanne was asking what dishwashing soap to use also for hand soap.
I used to just use diluted generic dish soap in my hand soap dispensers in the bathroom but it was way too drying.
Now I use diluted castille soap or Mrs Meyers (not too cheap but makes it so I don’t have to use as much hand lotion)
NeshaI buy the giant bottle of Palmolive at Costco. It cost about $9 and it lasts me 9 months.
I was tons of dishes – we eat 99% of our meals at home – and it works just fine.
MinooI buy the large bottle from Costco or WM and ( their brand) last a long time and much less expensive.
I pure it in an empty small hand soap dispenser and leave it on the sink.
ConnieI use Dawn Platinum! I buy the huge bottle from Sam’s club.. 2 per year at $10.99 each.
A little goes a long way on dishwashing.. but I also add it to nearly every load of laundry as a booster because I have super hard water!
DenniseIf your kitchen isn’t tiny can you have 2 options? Not every meal in my house creates greasy dishes. Maybe use cheaper soap when you can and use the Dawn for greasy pots and pans?
I doubt my sandwich lunch plates, salad bowls, dessert plates, snack plates, drink ware, etc require serious grease cutting.
I use Dawn, however during supply chain issues after Covid I picked up some Palmolive that worked fine on all but my greasiest pots/pans.
I see people commenting on Ajax.
JodyI dilute equal amounts of Dawn, hydrogen peroxide with water and use as a spray to wash dishes.
