30 with a post grad degree and starting a little late. Make about 160k/year and partner is at 100k. We keep our finances separate and they pay for our apartment and I pay for utilities.

We both have houses overseas where we hope to retire but to be honest really want somewhere we can get a big house with a farm and Mountain View.

We are aiming to each make 200k/year in the next 3-5 years.
Currently have about 50k liquid, 60k in retirement, and 20k in brokerage accounts for myself.

Cost of living in our respective overseas house (I have dual citizenship) is 1/4 or even less of that here.

What is my best strategy to grow and have a money be more liquid in my 50s?

Also has anyone dabbled into creating passive income/businesses to achieve FIRE/support a FI lifestylele?

No car loans, andstudent loans are there but they’re on a payment plan that’s sorted.

Almost same circumstances, income, ages (started around 28). We’re able to max out all retirement accounts and add to a brokerage.

About 100k a year for the last 3 years. On track to retire by 45. Thinking we’ll Coastfire by 40.

Basically, just invest everything you can for as long as you can.

What other country do you have citizenship in?
I’m half Brazilian, and we can get 15% a year guaranteed in government loan/bonds there.

Might be worth looking at investing in another country

Talking about a late start, my husband didn’t get his first job until he was 35!! Fortunately his education paid off and he was able to reach FI in 6 years by maxing out all his retirement (401a/403b/457) plus invest more outside of retirement every year.

We also have rentals and they are anything but passive even with property managers.

If we get to do it over again, we wouldn’t spend that much on a primary home and we’d get rid of our rentals sooner and just let the money grow in the market.

We are living comfortably now but would have enjoyed even more without the landlording drama that seriously took years off me and no amount of cashflow could save the trouble.

Can you and your partner work remotely? Seems like a good setup for geoarbitrage if at all possible.
