Has anyone used Section 72t to retire early? Age 50 and thinking or using one IRA that is at $1.9MM with Section 72t. I should earn more than 5%/year, so no erosion of IRA, should still have growth and can enjoy more time with the kids.
Last year, retirement returns were 55%+. Will be less aggressive moving forward, but will have more time, so investments should be efficient.
Dividends on Retirement accounts is $220K/year and just reinvest them monthly.
Have another $2.1MM in other Roths and IRAs as well as a pension.
NW $6.5MM.
TrevisI turn 55 this year and my 401k plan offers rule of 55 distributions, but not partial withdrawals.
So, I’m debating if using 72t would be better since I could spread the distributions out to help add a bit more cash during the bridge years.
We have a properly funded bridge account but pulling some from a tax differed account would take pressure off of the bridge account.
ThomasI haven’t used it, so can’t help there. How much contribution do you have in your Roth to pull?
I’ve got a similar portfolio, but live off my brokerage and Roth ladder. (Gotta love crypto and YM.)
TristanHave you looked in to how much you would need to take out and if it would meet your needs?
SteveWhat investments are in those retirement accounts that both managed to grow 55% in 2024 and produce $220k of dividends? Wow.
Usually high growth companies don’t kick out such huge dividends and the high dividend companies don’t grow as fast.
