I just saw on a Facebook page a way to earn some money that I had never heard of before. It’s call Sniffspot and it’s renting out large yards as play areas for dogs.
Might be something for those looking to add to their incomes to research.
KathyIf I didn’t own dogs I’d consider it. Having two I wouldn’t want to be open to parvo, hookworms or giardia.
AnnetteGads, what sort of liability would be involved? Dog parks are dangerous.
SuziBesides insurance you would need to think about illness and parasites that can be passed from dog to dog.
SarahI love using sniff spot since it’s just my pup that uses the yard or combine using my friends dogs and my pup that gets along with them.
2 hours of off leash time is amazing since we live in an apartment and refuse to use dog parks due to the possible issues in dog parks
AllisonThe available sniffspots in my area look great. Most of them cost about $10 for an hour. You can’t beat that to have your own private spot to take your dog.
Your dog gets to explore new things and sniff new things and you don’t have to worry about the problems associated with dog parks.
PamYes. I’m actually thinking of going to one. It’s on 1/2 acre all fenced in.
TommyI would consider that but I like my lawn to be pristine. I have a half acre.
TerriNeed liability insurance at the least. Check with your insurance provider.
SherolynI love Sniffspots. Always great to train new locations and then just have fun.
I have met some fabulous hosts.
Lauramake sure your home owners insurance is up to date – if 2 dogs get into a fight or one bites someone on your land, you can be sued.
AndreaIt seems irresponsible to have a pet in an apt, especially one that needs room to run free.
I know owning a home is out of reach for many, but this “shared society” is not always a good idea.
EvaWe have them where we live too but we go to the dog park a lot but if my yard weee bigger I would rent it out
AndreaI spent a lot of time & $ landscaping my back yard. I haven’t even gotten another dog because I’d have to fence off an area for him.
Isn’t that what professional dog walkers are for?
CharleneI definitely would not do this. Unless you have owners certify the dogs are healthy with vet records (like day care for dogs) and have no history of aggression.
Id also look into assing a fine if they didn’t pick up after the dog (cameras might come in handy). Be very very careful.
JillDon’t do it! You are liable for what happens on your property. You could end up in court and lose everything.
