Best recommendations on how to remedy my shoes? Looks like this is what’s causing my ankle pain. can i stuff a cotton ball in or something?
it’s like a gaping hole at the ankle
LindaIf you can’t replace them right now a silly sounding trick I used when mine were just rubbing my heel raw.
Stuck a panty liner in the heel.It stays for a day or so.
It did the trick for me.
ElizabethIf it is causing pain a patched up job probably won’t help, try Brooks tennis shoes, I’ve never had this happen with Brooks.
MaryIf you have worn a hole in them you have probably worn them out in other places. They do make little sticky things called moleskin to put in your shoes.
They are sticky on one side and soft on the other. I am not sure if they would work on them. They sell them at Walmart and other places.
Wearing shoes past the point of replacing them is bad for your feet. But if you can’t afford a new good pair the moleskin may help until you can save for a good brand.
A good brand will last at least twice as long as a cheap brand and will support your feet much better.
LisaHow old are the shoes? If they’re that bad at the back, I wonder how much they are supporting the rest of your foot/body.
I’ll admit, I’m awful about replacing shoes, but it might be time.
ChanellShoes are not something to skimp on. Foot pain, leg issues, back pain… It’s just not worth it.
You might want to have someone evaluate how you walk (pronation, supination, etc.) and get one or two quality and supportive shoes.
Think of this like “the high cost of cheap food.” You’ll pay more later to correct problems. Also, be sure you’re taking care of your feet.
IrenaI love this brand but their quality went downhill. I had a pair of QC sneakers about 14 years ago. I wore them for 5 years and they still were good.
I bought a light weight version of a sneaker for summer last year and in 3 months I got a hole in the back, just like you.
I wrote to the company, but they refused to honor warranty.
IrishThis was kind of similar to what happened to my sneaker… I took it to the Shoemaker… he said he couldn’t do too much for it…
he could sew it a little bit, but it won’t last… so I put a little bit of duct tape on mine… not bad
MarianIt’s possible that your gait has been affected by ankle pain. Have you seen a dr about it? This is an unusual wear pattern.
In any case, I think you deserve new sneakers.
LindaYou will need to replace them. That happens when you repeatedly take them on & off without untying them first.
You might check into some of those that are designed to slip in & out of.
I’m hearing some good reports about how they are good on feet & also really do allow fast in & out without needing to untie since they are made for doing it that way.
JanieSure, it’s time for new shoes. Not everyone has “extra” $ to get them. I know a lot of people don’t understand, but I wouldn’t go hungry so I could get shoes.
LisaIf your ankle is hurting, it’s time for new sneakers. They really don’t last forever.
Maybe try the sketchers slip ins so that that won’t happen to the back of the sneaker again…
They’re a little more expensive but you don’t have to bend over and if you hit a good sale, it’s worth it
LaurettaTry using a shoe horn when putting them on if they’re already tied.
I use one all the time and I have a couple of old pairs that are 7-8 years old, not worn out in that place, just on the outside
DeborahI am a very frugal person. 99% of my clothing is thrifted. The one thing I don’t ever skimp on in shoes.
I have 2 pair of Birkenstock sandals for summer casual wear (they will last at least 7 or 8 years) and three pairs of sneakers (walking shoes) which I alternate to save wear and tear.
The least expensive pair of these cost $120.
I am on my feet a lot and I have severe back problems. It is absolutely vital to take good care of my feet and wear good shoes.
Buy good shoes and pitch them if/when they are no longer comfortable.
SimcoeThere is a time to be frugal and this isn’t it. Your shoes are your foundation and while I do love myself a good sneaker…. when you’re in pain from them the fix isn’t a cotton ball.
It’s time treat yourself to new sneakers.
It’s good for your feet, your knees, your back, etc.
