I need some ideas on things we can do to keep us afloat! I stay home with my 4 and 2 year old!
My husband sells insurance! He just totaled our car that he was also ubering in.. but now he can’t because our other car is too old for him to use to do it.
So now he is just doing door dash and can’t cash out yet because he had to put a new card on there..
I’m already cleaning out the house and trying to sell things. We were alreadyy struggling long
What are some things that y’all have done to make extra money?
g and he was finally ready to go super hard on his insurance business and then wrecked the car..
KayleMaybe you could post on your Facebook childcare page to see if there’s any other parents that need help with their kiddos?
Areas around here charge $30-45 a day per kid for working hours.
Not quite a home daycare since there’s rules and regulations for that but I’m pretty sure you’re able to watch up to 5 without a license depending on your state.
SueMaybe your husband needs to find a better full-time job and a better part-time job
JanetTry to get 3-4 kids to baby sit— you can make probably $75-100 a day if you had 4, and have parents provide their snacks of their choice.
Also, could offer Date Night sitting for couples on weekends and probably make good doing that with little added expenses.
JeanI agree with many of these. Some of us have been there. It is rough. I’m thinking you do not eat out. That’s a huge one for some people.
Adjust your thermostat and use fans more. Check with food stamps. Renegotiate loans or credit cards.
It’s hard also because you feel your children are cheated. Take them to public parks, neighborhood libraries, free museums.
Ask friends or family members to occasionally invite your kids on an outing, even if it’s just to have a picnic or jump in the backyard pool.
Put out the word that you would like to inherit gently outgrown shoes and clothing. Good luck!
LucindaYears ago when we owned a cabin that we rented out, I had trouble finding anyone to clean it between renters.
When I finally found someone, they quoted me $180 (this was in a rural area, about 5 years ago).
The cleaning was always on a Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm. I could easily do it in 2 hours (but took longer because we did laundry at the same time).
If you have a regular time that you can offer for short-term rental cleanouts it could be well paying.
MariaTending houses while your friends and neighbors are on summer vacation.
Make a passive income by making cute printable etc to sell on etsy.Make use of your passions whatever they are… crafting… sell graduation leighs etc… yoga … give a class to other moms…
cooking Give a class to friends or maybe prepare meals for elderly neighbors…
JohnHow long has he been selling insurance? It’s a high washout occupation unfortunately and one needs to build clients.
If he’s been doing this for a year or so and not making it, best to look for something different. Good luck
AshleyYou could look at becoming an I home respite care provider. You could give caregivers a break by hosting people
With special needs in your home.
I do not know all of the ins and outs but I know my Mom used a respite home for my brother and he would stay with them one weekend a month.
HutchisonYour husband is in sales. Income is never guaranteed when based on commission. You will have good months and bad months.
One of you needs some you can depend on.
I worked sales but my husband had steady income.
LySetteCan you door dash when he has down time? It takes a few weeks but then things flow more smoothly.
I find it more effective to revisit spending than trying to pick up more work or hours.
So many times I think I can’t reduce anymore and then revisit each week to find things here and there.
Use free local groups as much as possible to obtain things which pop up.
LucyThrift & resell. Set up table at Farmer’s Market & craft shows. Mend for others.
Make quilts to sell.
BrendaHas the insurance company gave a price on the accident. You can use the money for a down payment on another car to continue umber in.
Maybe good condition not as new that meets uber standards.
PatriciaI work retail part time. Perhaps you could work retail in the evenings when he’s home to care for the kids.
MindyWhat type of insurance does he sell? What states is he licensed in?
I’m a life/health broker so maybe I can connect him with someone who he can work for to bring in a steady salary.
ArleenI coupon. CVS alone I saved over 13,500 since 2015.
Write down a budget.Upside for buying gas it is money back for money you already spend.
Southern savers a good coupon site.Ibotta for money back on things you already purchase
Check out 24 f digital coupons for things you already buy
Key to couponing buy things you use when it is on sale and use a coupon to maximize savings.SusanYou probably qualify for food stamps. If not, don’t be ashamed of going to a food pantry.
They are there to help. Baby sitting kids after school might work well for you. Hang in there.
Things will get better.
JenniferGo on Craigslist for your area and check the gigs section for ideas.
There will be some scams but also some legit money makers.
PattyThere are many other types of sales. I sold senior living, it came with a decent base pay plus lucrative commissions.
Hubby should check “Indeed” for all sales positions in your area.
Grammarly is a huge help.
