What’s everyone paying for homeowners insurance? In 2021 we were paying 1300, we were just quoted 2800.
That’s with bundling and no claims.
Our roof is 23 years old so wondering if that’s a big factor. Texas.
StaceyThis answer depends on a number of factors, but in general almost every state has gone up a ton in the past 2 years because of # of claims, storms, replacement costs, etc.
In NJ, insurance companies need approval to raise rates and they got it
MarinoWhat state? Existing customer insurance can only increase certain percent.
How did yours go from 1300 to 2800 unless state regulator approced
Jared2023: 2100
2024: 3300
2025: 39002100 sq ft house in Texas panhandle. No claims, and this is bundled
Knipp$600 in 2022, $1700 in 2025 in AZ with no claims. Basically California, the Midwest, and Florida are driving up the cost with more extreme climate events for everyone outside of those areas too
ScottIf you’re near the gulf like Houston, that’s the hurricane tax. Some insurance companies are just closing up shop depending on where you live.
SickelsRates have tripled since 2019. This looks about standard with what is happening in the marketplace.
The market is starting to soften, but rate reductions aren’t happening yet.
MichaelFor most people that expense has ballooned over 100% in the last couple years.
At current rate of inflation and housing I expect escrow to become majority of my mortgage payment before I hit the halfway mark.
VanThe appraised value of my home has doubled. Therefore the cost of my insurance has doubled with a little extra.
What was your homes value in 2021 vs now?
JuleYou cannot compare as this is very dependent on where you live, the age, value and state of your home, etc.
RobertI don’t recall offhand while I’m paying for homeowners’ insurance; but given that the cost of replacing a home and the cost of replacing so many of a homes’ components- due to the skyrocketing cost of materials and the increasing labor shortages in the construction industry…
Insurance rates are going through the roof.
Even if you’ve never had a claim. And Texas, with all of your storms and what not…
I would hunt around and see if you cannot find something cheaper. But even the cheap stuff has gone up.
BarronNortheast Houston and our rate is $6000/yr now. We started at $1200/yr in 2001.
Thanks to Harvey, Ike, Beryl and the Tax day flooding, we are now at $6000/yr with zero claims made because we didn’t flood, but our community did.
