I’ve heard others cut their lotion bottles to get all the lotion out. My question is how the heck do you do it. Do you use a knife or a saw or what lol.
Tried a knife and that’s not working. So what’s the magic trick?
Please share.
RinaI use a pair of scissors. I poke one of the blades first to get it started and then slowly make small cuts around the bottle.
Or I use a box cutter.
CatherineI turn mine upside down and get as much as I can out of it .it works and is safer.
IrishWhy go through all that and risk getting cut
If it’s lotion for your body, I just add a little water to the bottle and shake it real good and use it as moisturizer in my shower
No waste
JillI poke a hole with one of my steak knives and just cut around the bottle. Once done, I keep it covered with a sandwich bag rubber banded in place.
Easy peasy!
CassieScissors. I will tell y’all that harbor freight has new ones. They’re blue and black and they’re FABULOUS!
for lotion bottles I recommend the large ones that are barely serrated on the blade.
They’re great for this! Not expensive for good scissors!
DonnaKitchen shearers. I caught my husband using my good sewing shearers one time.
It was ugly.
VirginiaHeavy duty kitchen shears. Make sure you stand the container on one end for a long stretch to avoid making your hands slippery once you pierce the container
LaraineScissors,,,,so easy. Cut of bottom esp if it’s one that tapers (the ones you stand-up by the cap)..
Sometimes I start with sharp small paring knife near the top then cut with Scissors diwn (lengthwise)
Another way. Heat up knife on gas stove then carefully slice thru plastic tube…
SharonJust cut with scissors, then stuff the top of the bottle into the bottom. Won’t dry out. Not a big deal to cut it.
There’s way more lotion left inside than you might expect, like another week’s worth.
ShellyI turn all my shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles upside-down in a small cream cheese container.
Once I use all that, I wash out the container and store it under the sink for the next time
DonnaI have good scissors. Good scissors make your life easier. One for stuff like that, one for food and one for material.
MargoGot it with the box cutter. Couldn’t put it upside down it was a pump bottle.
Thank you everyone now off to find something to put it in.
Digging through my old containers for a small one!
DarleneI save tops from shampoo bottles that have an open-and-close lever. One will usually fit onto a lotion bottle.
When the pump isn’t working anymore I switch the lid, stand or prop the bottle upside down so that whatever’s left keeps draining down.
Most of the lotion comes out that way, plus at the very end swish a bit of warm water and shake for using the last bit up.
RachelHeat up the plastic with a hairdryer first, then a sharp box knife where you heated around the circumference
CathyI know it’s horrible to heat plastic, but I microwaved my lotion bottle for 15 seconds and it easily poured into a glass jar.
And no, I don’t need 500 comments telling how bad that is. Better than cutting off your fingers.
