Tips on cheaper car insurance? I have to pickups with progressive and it seems like we are 16 again with these prices.

      Open to suggestions!

      A few details:

Both trucks are used for personal (not commercial) driving.

Clean driving records, no recent claims.

I’m willing to adjust coverage if it makes sense.

      What’s worked for you?

Are there better insurers for pickups?

Does bundling (home/renters + auto) actually help?

Any discounts I might be missing (safe driver, low mileage, etc.)?

Are usage-based programs (like Snapshot) worth trying?

Also curious if shopping around annually really saves $$ or if loyalty pays off long-term.

Thanks in advance—ready to ditch these ‘teen driver’ rates!

Bundling saves money. Add your homeowners insurance with it.

Zebra or nsure are online car insurance companies that look at multiple companies for you and it’s all online.

            Shop around
            What all do you have?
            Full coverage?

Bundle with something like home insurance but some of it depends on
            Year of vehicles
            Location

Nerd wallet. I actually have progressive and got better coverage and cheaper than what I had been paying before they sent me new policy with significantly higher price.

I called them with my quote confirmation number from nerd wallet and they honored it happily.

It only became an issue for me in the last 8 yrs or so (prior to that my rates suffered no significant increases) but I have to change every couple of years now.

Even without any claims rate increases are frequent and HIGH.

Many will offer lower introductory or “new” customer rates and then hit you with a BIG increase come renewal time.

I always do better paying the 6 month introductory rate, but have to shop again in a year or so.

Get this; I had auto insurance with Allstate for 2 vehicles with full coverage (no claims) rate tripled in 3 yrs time. I called, complained to no avail, shopped got better coverage for $500 less (6mo policies w/both) with Progressive.

Just a NOW (my renewal is in April) I get a quote from a different Allstate rep that was $300 less than I was paying 6 months before!

Same Vehicles, same location, same history (no accidents nor tickets).. So, I’m still better off with Progressive.. (which went up $13 from 6 month ago) but I expect I will get a larger rate increase from them.. next time and will have to shop again after this renewal…It’s ridiculous

I like Allstate. I’m enrolled in their Drivewise program and get 2 reward deposits in my bank account and a discount on my policy with it.

                  Equals approximately $140/year.

Erie insurance has come in cheapest for my family since we had a sixteen year old. First year saved us thousands on a policy for a teen driver.

                    He’s now 40.

Never had a problem with them and my son had three accidents first two years.

Talk to an independent agent to get the most appropriate policy for your needs.

They have access to more options and can comparison shop on your behalf

I was with Progressive and got a quote from Zander Insurance (they can quote 44 states I think) and I got a new policy with Progressive, exact same coverage, we went line item by line item to check and they got it for much cheaper than I was currently paying.

I didn’t know you can do that but apparently you can.

Progressive was the cheapest for me. My friend who works for an insurance company did say prices were supposed to drop sometime this spring.
