Nails!!! Ladies, what are some tips to maintain nails at home with salon like upkeep? I have natural nails, though prone to breakage.
I love getting gel/ powder manicure done, it works wonderful for my nails and lifestyle (Full time job, lots of cooking and cleaning at home etc) But it’s expensive!
The manicure price plus the tips adds up to anywhere north of $60+ each time.
My main fav are the clean cuticle care and hang nails which I cannot get at home, especially to right hand.
Please share some tips and pointers on how you do it. Appreciate your help!
CynthiaI use a dehydrator 1 coats, a primer 1 coat, a rubber base gel 2 coats, gel polish 2 coats and gel top coat.
I stopped going to the Salon in December. I feel so much better.
Trying to be frugal and grow my own nails.
ShirleyBuy a cuticle remover and use it religiously on a weekly basis. That will eliminate any hang nails and keep the cuticles pushed back.
After using the cuticle remover use vitamin E oil on the cuticles and massage it in.
Francessthey have tools to nip off your hang nails. you might want to get a russian manicure from time to time
AndreaHave you tried nail strips? There are plenty of patterns that last pretty long (it helps if you wear cleaning gloves).
Pushing well-moisturized cuticles back w/an orange stick keeps them supple & w/o hangnails.
The strips come in sheets & are a little tricky at first, but not at all once you get the hang of it & cost ~$5/set.
PatriciaWear gloves while having hands in water, use lotion. File any rough areas, add top coat daily touch up chips.
Redo when you have time once a week.
MarilynBest thing for my nails has been taking collagen peptides daily. They are in much better shape than ever before.
I also use cuticle oil almost daily.
SusanNorth of 60+ each time??? That’s a steal. Here in Florida I pay 75/80 each time, tip is extra.
JuliannaI do gel nails at home!! I’ve tried several brands and my favorites are Gellen and Beetles (you can buy both on Amazon). It takes me one hour every 3 weeks.
They sell starter kits with all the equipment and a few colors.
It takes some practice and patience in the beginning, but pays off in the long run! Also, water is the enemy of nails.
If your hands will be submerged (like doing dishes or lots of cleaning) wear gloves.
JenniferI just get my nails dipped, no need to add fake nail tips. My nails grow with the dip on.
Less expensive when you don’t add the tips in my experience.
My manicures last 3-4 weeks, too.
