I’m attending a baby shower soon and would love to bring a gift that’s both meaningful and budget-friendly.
I know baby items can get expensive quickly, but I believe a gift doesn’t have to cost a lot to be appreciated—especially if it’s thoughtful, practical, or handmade.
Do you have any creative or tried-and-true ideas for affordable baby shower gifts?
Maybe something DIY, something small but useful, or even something personalized without spending too much?
I’d especially love suggestions that new parents actually find helpful or memorable.
Whether it’s a favorite baby book, homemade gift basket, baby essentials, or even clever packaging tips—I’m open to all ideas!
I’m hoping to find a few suggestions that won’t break the bank but will still bring a smile to the parents-to-be.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!
KariannFresh flower bouquets. Guests take a pre-bundled fresh flower bouquet already wrapped in the plastic pouch
CaroleGo to Dollar Tree and fill a bag with scented bags for dirty diapers, bottle brush, bottle, baby wash cloths, baby wash, whatever baby stuff they have.
SharonFor weddings or baby showers I cut the invitation into small strips…then make spiral curls and put them in a clear glass ornament for their first Christmas ornament keepsake.
They are loved by all.
MaryLook at the gift registry. Likely have items less than $20. Pacifier, socks, baby mitts
KarenLots of great baby things at Dollar Tree. I always use a baby blanket to wrap the gift and a kids book as the card
PhillipsJust give the $20 and a home made card. Don’t waste gas and time on collecting dollar store stuff.
LindsaySecondhand books, anything from the registry within your budget, babysitting coupons, or something handmade.
CharlieHow about free babysitting coupons? Great option for new parents to he able to go out for an evening and cost you nothing but your time.
LucindaOK, this is going to sound odd. But a new coffee grinder is great for making small amounts of baby food.
It enables you to have the really smooth texture they need for first foods, then you can increase the texture by “pulsing” the food as they get older.
Pair with a book on baby food or some baby spoons.
CarolHave everyone bring a book. Doesn’t have to be new, gently used is fine.
What a great gift to the new parents to have a library ready for their little one.
StaceyIf the new parents don’t mind second hand, some cute outfits can be put together inexpensively.
Sometimes you can find new with tags there too!
I do larger sizes like 9 or 12 months.
JudyOn the go changing bags. I buy a few makeup bags. In each bag, I put a travel size wipes package, an empty plastic bag, a travel size hand sanitizer and a diaper.
GeraldineCoupons to bring a meal to their family one night a month for 6 mo or a year.
A night off at home and out of the kitchen is heaven for parents who haven’t slept for weeks!
JulieI would go with something off of the registry. But a pack of wipes and diapers are always good (and very much needed).
You can find coupons and sales on those.
BerensSomething I really appreciated and never thought of was an Uber eats gift card.
It was enough to order one meal after coming home from the hospital.
But any amount of diapers and wipes are helpful
LauraOr a box/pack of diapers. I have made Cupcakes with onesies and socks in a cardboard cupcake container. Some Bibs and binkies. Rattle toy.
There are so many less expensive options at Ross, TJ maxx, target, Walmart.
Costco has book sets and carters clothes sets. Even Carters has good deals.
Look for clearance deals.
ChristineIf I don’t have time to make something with my yarn stash, I like to give good quality cloth diapers (the kind without the thick padding down the center).
They make excellent burp cloths, and you can never have enough with an infant.
CoralA few freezer meals, (having checked out their preferences) I find a chicken pasta dish seems to be universal, as does spaghetti bolognaise, and some individually frozen roast dinners.
