As a mom and grandmom, the most treasured gifts were the simplest. The ones that meant the most to me were the notes or letters, Sometimes with a picture. Often times, when having a rough day, they are reread and are a perfect salve for whatever doldrums I am feeling. The best gifts truly do come from the heart!

My daughter who is now 15 has often written a letter to me for Mother’s Day.
Just covering aspects of how I as her mom effect her life, and memories of what we have done that year. I cherish them.

On colored paper have him write his bestest memories of him and her. In his own words and handwriting is SO cherished. Put them in a pretty like jar for her to read when she needs reminded how amazing she is.

When my son was younger I had him put his hand print on a t-shirt with fabric paint and every grandparents day he would add a hand print in a different color paint. My mom loved the gift and wore it frequently right up until she passed.

I got the best card ever one year. They took a picture of my son holding his hand out and glued it to a card. Then took a flower and put a hole through the card where his hand was. Looks like he’s handing me a flower. My most favorite thing ever

My kids made me a chore gift card booklet. I loved it. things like one free vacuum the living room, one free weed the flower bed, etc.

My kids always had chores, but it was fun to use them when I had a busy day and see how excited they actually were to see them redeemed. It made them proud of themselves!

My students and I used magazine words and letters to cover bottles and jars for their mothers. We “decoupaged” them with white glue tinted with food coloring. My mom still has hers, I have mine in my classroom and so does my sister in law. Super cute. Just be careful if using water in the jars if u use this bargain style decoupage.

Vase filled with gratitude rocks! Each rock represents something he is grateful for and loves about his mama.

Buy a few small plants and group together in a pot , put a pretty bow on it and it can be enjoyed for months!! Or a hydrangea or azalea that she could plane to enjoy for years to come.

Buy a small planter and plant. Have him pot the plant so he’s able to say he made the gift for her. The plain terra cotta pots can be painted so he might want to decorate it for his mom.

One of my favorite gifts from my son was a vase he made out of a mason jar and torn scraps of paper. Look up “torn paper mosaic art” mine was modge podged onto the glass jar.

Tie a ribbon around the neck. It’s been on my nightstand for over 15 years.

First Saturday of the month in the morning Home Depot has a free kids workshop. The project this month is a picket fence planter with two little flower pots that sit inside.

Get a package of pens, a roll of florist tape, a bag or two of decorative rocks, a vase and a bunch or two of artificial spring flowers. Most are at the Dollar Tree…. so, that’s about $6. Add the rocks to the vase. Clip the flowers, one at a time, off the bunch, attach each to a pen with Florist Tape. She can put the vase full of flowers anywhere she might have a need for pens to stay put!

How about teach him a valuable skill that includes service as a gift and have him share that: ie cook a meal; do some house work like clean floors or bathroom; do yard work or clean outside windows!, clean tubs and toilets! These are what id like. I dont need things except the necessities. Just an idea.

He can make a coupon book. Ideas for coupons, vacuum house, wash car, do dishes, make dinner, do own laundry for a week, assist with grocery shopping and putting away purchases. This gift will last longer than that 1 day.

Home Depot has Saturday kids projects for free. I think they are making Mother’s Day birdhouses or something. They have all supplies and tools and it’s free! Lowes might. I love those projects, I take my grandkids. They get safety goggles and a Home Depot apron to keep. It’s free. Call your local one or check online.

I got one similar to this from my grandkids a few years ago. I’m sure any hobby paint would work and then spray with a finishing spray to keep it from fading
