Share your experiences and tips!
AnhStay home more, low budget outdoor activities if not free, cut off my milk tea or Starbucks drinks, avoid eat out as much as possible.
Lower groceries, only go new grocery trip when actually run out of food.
Unplug electric wire if not use.
NguyenWe don’t eat out. Using wood stove to offset heating bills. Unplug things when not in use. Open curtains for natural light.
I shop at a discount store and visit a food pantry as needed because we are struggling right now.
I buy eggs locally. Basically anything that saves us money.
JamieCooking more, cut out cable and dropped a couple streaming services, keeping my thermostat low and using my fireplace more.
Shopping g clearance sales now for next year’s Christmas gifts.
Crocheting more with yarn I already have and finding free patterns or using ones I already have.
“Paid” a friend to do my taxes (he used to teach people how to do taxes) with a homemade cake, which he was thrilled with.
AnastasiyaI’m doing a no spend year including groceries. My husband is allowed to shop and so far he spent 1/5 of what I would have spent.
So far so good.
RobinPretty much purchasing minimal groceries, shopping only at thrift stores since mid-January, plan to continue that all year.
Planting from seed for the garden, expanding the garden.
RhondaStay off Amazon and temu, shop my stash for craft projects, buy foods on sale only, and gave up eggs.
At $6.50 a dozen, I’ve learned I can do without for the mist part.
GwennNo shopping except food, medicine, & pet supplies. And have allotted myself $20/month for books.
I have money set aside to replace my makeup.
CallieLow spend.
Worked until my fridge and sewing machine quit and my cat got sick.PamelaStocking up on meat and other items when they are on super sale. This week Kroger has Tyson buy one, get two free on legs and thighs.
I bought 4 and took home 8 pkgs free to stock my freezer.
What a deal. So, a total of 12 pkgs on legs and thighs and I spent total of 22.70.
That breaks down to 2.08 per pkg.
AstridAgreed to switch houses with friends for holiday this summer.
CandiceSwitched car insurance companies. We’re now paying $125 less a month. Got rid of and downgraded streaming subscriptions: Cancelled Spotify (just turn down the volume during ads) and Hulu; downgraded Netflix.
This sounds minor, but it adds up. We’re saving $252 a year with these changes that can be used for something else.
Rarely go out to eat–like once or twice a month. This is actually huge.
You can save soooo much money by cooking at home. Started doing more meal planning so trips to the grocery store are more productive.
PeggyGetting healthy – better food quality, less sugar, get back into smaller size clothes stored away, invest in my future.
MishaGave up a big box store subscription, gave up my Sirius xm radio (that one hurt), and gave up all unnecessary spending in 2025.
SaraBought a new bed and new pillows. We don’t wake up sore. Less money spent on medicines, doctors/chiro, and we have more energy to do work that will help us gain more money.
We’re also eating healthier… spend a little more on fresh fruits and veggies to save later at the doctors office.
