Investing can seem overwhelming for beginners, but the right book can make all the difference! In your experience, which books are best for introducing someone to the world of investing?
Whether it’s a classic like The Intelligent Investor or a more modern guide, share your favorites and why they stand out.
Looking forward to your recommendations!
FrankThe ones written by people who are the most like them.
DaveA lot depends on their interest and where they are. A simple plan to wealth is great if they have some interest but if they don’t they aren’t reading it.
It’s way too bland.
I actually like rich dad poor dad to make people think. It is what got me interested.
EvaDepends, but 65% of the time simple path to wealth. 10% quit like a millionaire if they enjoy travel/express wanting to live abroad.
5% your money your life if they hate finance but prefer more self / life improvement books. 5% I will teach you to be rich (the journal) if they’re more established or partnered.
5% the alchemist if they dislike finance but know they enjoy fiction.
5% psychology of money if they’re cerebral. 5% millionaire next door if a convo comes up about the rich.
But sometimes podcasts are the better medium. I have bought the simple path for dozens of people I don’t often recommend something without ordering right away because I want the path to be of least resistance to reading.
As the book 40,000 states the more people that share freedom of time the more happier a society is so I’m being partly selfish by wanting more people to consider fi but really just simply being more in tune with their finance and self awareness of how money can serve them.
They don’t need RE.
PopeyeMy new go-to is Millionaire Mission for newbies. Then Simple Path….
DeLLove the recommendation for Berenstain Bears Trouble with Money for young kids (teach them young!). We also like the MoneyBunny series and Rock, Brock & the Savings Account for kids as well.
We’ve been gifting new grads in our family/friend circle with Millionaire Mission.
And Quit like a Millionaire is one of my personal favorites. Of course, Simple Path is also classic.
PaulFor an introduction, simple path is probably best for most.
If they’re young and showing interest, Paul Merriman’s taking millions is better imo.KevinRetire before Mom and Dad by Rob Berger
After reading the first few pages while hall monitoring during state testing, a faculty member turns to me and says, “I can’t believe how many years I wasted.I’m canceling cable this weekend.”
