What’s everyone’s grocery/household budget look like? We are a family of 2 with 5 pets and spend about $800/month(Northern Alabama).

This includes personal care, cleaning and paper products.

We also eat out once a week for balance. Before we had pets, we spent about $400-500 but that was 5 years ago lol.

Family of 5 and ours is $650 monthly including cost and care for animals we eat then another $200 for hay/feed etc for the goats, duck, bunnies and laying hens but the hens pay for themselves every month so we roll over alot to pay for fencing etc.

We don’t eat out and I make all our meals, we could cut it down if I didn’t buy sparkling water, creamer or coffee but hubby draws the line.

But I am very particular with how I shop and where we invest money.

I just spent $254 for our pork for the year and all the cooking oil we will use.

Oh I forgot the 200 also covers litter and feed for 1 house dog, 1 house cat, 4 outdoor cats and a LGD.

(We have 50 chickens, 7 goats, 2 bunnies, 3 ducks and till this month 2 dogs and 5 cats total).

I am single with cats (crazy cat lady lol) and I spend twice as much for their food and litter than I do on food for myself.

Family of 8, kids are homeschooled so all meals are eaten at home. Some of the neighbor kids are here generally one meal a week.

We spend an average of $1500/mo on food + all household needs.

Six months ago my grocery average was $1200/mo.

We go out to lunch after our 20 co-op sessions a year and when traveling, but otherwise we don’t eat out.

We won’t talk about the horse feed bill…… lol but a family of 6 we spend 3/400 a week on groceries and essentials

It’s my husband and I and one cat we spend about 600 dollars per month for groceries, that includes things like paper towels.

Toilet paper and laundry detergent that we buy from Costco on a as needed basis.

We eat out once a week but that’s not included in the $600.

I think what you are spending is reasonable and seems like it’s within your budget. It’s good re reward yourself with going out.

Working, cooking and caring for pets is a double full time job.

Family of 2, 1 large dog and 2 medium. Our budget is $500 and we almost always come at least slightly under that.

I stocked up on Shrimp and cokes last month (bought a 90 day supply of each because they were on sale) and we spent $490.

Two of us….me and my 13 year old son who has food sensory issues but he’s expanding his palate suddenly.

I spend around $1000-$1200 depending. Includes cat food.

Also, I’m disabled so I buy paper n plastic and a lot of convenience foods.

I shop as cheaply as possible at Costco and Food Lion..
We don’t eat pasta, rice, or beans.

I feel like that is pretty reasonable. We are a family of 2 adults, a 5-year-old child, 2 cats and a dog.

We average around $900-$1000 a month.

That is definitely up for us and would say that we spent a couple hundred less just a few years ago on the same things.

Two retired adults and one cat. Grocery budget of $400/mo. covers all groceries, cleaning and household supplies and cat food.

Our going out to eat budget is $125/mo. We live in Iowa.

I’m not sure about the pet budget as we recently lost our lab x mastiff and switched our Maremma to prescription food ($$$$$) but for the two of us – – we try to spend about $100 a week.

We have a big freezer, a big pantry, a big vegetable garden and do a lot of canning and dehydrating.

We are in a position after years of working at this that we generally buy a lot of what’s on sale, process it in some way and add it to the pantry/freezer.

We eat a much as we can from the pantry and the freezer until the garden comes in.

I’m in Mississippi and we spend nearly double that amount. We are a family of 4.

Single with 3 dogs on the California central coast. My groceries are ~$250/month, theirs ~$150 plus incontinence pads for the antique Aussie.

I’m lucky right now to have a client dog to show & that pays for my dog expenses.

We grow a garden to help with feeding our farm animals.

We eat lots of beans rice and lentils.

Single no pets in SoCal. I spend less than $150 a month mostly shopping at Aldi and healthy meal planning at home.

About 300 a week for a family of 3, and 200 a month in dog food for 3 dogs (2 xl breed and one has bad allergies). In Maine.

It’s absolutely ridiculous up here.

The area I’m in doesn’t have any competition with stores and I’m not driving half an hour and deal with a million people for cheaper groceries, if it’s even cheaper.

I’ll also add we hunt and have freezers full of meat.

So, the only meat I really buy is chicken

That is about what my family of 2 adults spends in southern Louisiana. I believe I could easily lower it by $200.

and still eat healthy but my adult son is autistic and can be quite picky.

I live retired and live alone with a cat and a dog. I order all staples from Amazon (paper towels, laundry soap, pet food, etc) and order dinner from a delivery service 5x a week.

I always have enough food left over for lunch the next day.

The Amazon bill is about $150 and the food delivery runs about $600 a month and I don’t have to cook or do dishes

I spend around $100 per week for my husband and I. I cook all meals at home and from scratch, with maybe three or four dinners per week meatless.

This number does not include paper products which I get at Sam’s Club dog food and expenses for our dog.

I think where you live makes such a huge difference.

I live in a small, Midwestern town.

My kids live in expensive, big cities, and I have noticed when visiting that they pay so much more for groceries, even if they go to their version of cheaper stores.

We pay less for car insurance and just about everything. Even things like haircuts.

I’m single senior with two cats. One diabetic and one uti. So their food has recently become more expensive. Prior to special food I spent 150 a month for all my food, cats food litter plus paper and otc etc.

I’m in Canada too. Extreme budget but I do okay. Do almost everything from scratch.

I have a deep freezer for stocking up and my freezer meals and some garden veggies etc.

I’m a canner too so I pressure can meats,soups, beans lots of things.

I don’t buy bread or sweets I make them. I’m eating less meat by using less in a dish but I’m still eating all the things I love.
