I need some help please! My teens SSN has been stolen and we are looking at using an identity theft protection company to help us.

Who do you recommend? We’re looking for someone cost effective but has good reviews.

I’m finding most only cover a child under a family plan and they’re very expensive because they cover up to 5-10 kids. I only have 1.

      Thank you!!

First – Freeze her credit, regardless of age
Second – call the SS Admin. Report and they will guide you

first, file credit freezes: Equifax, transunion…
Check mail for any reported data leaks regarding your teen, as if so, they usually offer it as standard in recompense.

You also may get it through your bank, or through whomever you file taxes with, i.e.

we file with turbo tax and get identity protection with that, with a monthly email telling us the news on ID.

Mine was found in 24 places, within 24 hours of the news of Musk’s invasion of Department of Education, where my info would be as a college student, though at this point, it’s a wild game to guess if anyone’s info is secure any more. Just file the credit freezes first.

Go to FTC dot gov and look under advice and guidance. Also, call social security to file a report as well as filing a report with your local law enforcement agency.

Why are so many people saying “call Social Security office”. There is literally no one there to answer the call. The best you can do is go on the website and report it stolen.

Who knows if they will respond.

People need to adjust to the new reality.

I have Lifelock. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Someone tried to open Walmart money cards and a Chase account in my name and they helped with that.

Can you go ahead and freeze his credit? I did that with my ss number so at least someone can’t take out loans or credit cards.

Was it stolen in one of the million data leaks from a company? I seem to get a letter every month telling me my data was stolen and giving me credit monitoring.

Try to see if he was part of one of those-you may be entitled to get free coverage & not even realize it.
