My daughter is 25 years old and needs car insurance. No wrecks. Been driving since she was 15 yrs old. Husband is kicking her off his insurance.
Does anyone know of an inexpensive plan?
I used to have Allstate and it was so expensive. A friend was on State Farm and they raised his rates due to no accidents for a long period of time.
They claimed he was over due!
AlexI have had the best luck with progressive. The longer you stay with them the more discounts you earn.
I was a dumb teen and got a DUI and they were the cheapest then also.
I think the most I have paid with them was just under $200/month under 25.
They also discount for being accident free!
MichelleWow. I want your alls rates. 5 drivers and 5 cars and rv and I’m 2k a month.
Yes, you read that right.
CarlaTry Progressive. They had the best rates when my sons started driving.
JodiUnfortunately it’s going to be expensive u til she is over 25.
LisaWhy aren’t you letting your daughter take care of this herself?
RonaHonestly, I’m not sure you can get cheap anymore. My daughter is under mine but she has her own car and it’s billed separately. She pays that portion of the insurance.
What I do is take my current policy and go online and get quotes.
I match it line by line so I make sure I’m getting the correct quote. She is about the same age as your daughter and she just renewed at $942 for 6 months.
I look almost every year to see if I can do better.
AnnetteUnfortunately, there are to many variables to be accurate. Your daughter should do the leg work, shopping for such things is part of life.
AmandaI don’t know where you’re at, but in Missouri if you’re married, you have to have your spouse on the insurance.
BrandiI just got my daughters boyfriend on with State Farm. He is 18 and has a good record, he is paying $98 per month for liability, I can’t imagine full coverage being but so much higher.
We’ve been with State Farm for 25 years now
NonieAll these comments saying “let your daughter figure it out she’s an adult” annoys me bc if it was a son no one would have said anything
Thanks for helping your daughter. As parents our jobs to help and guide don’t have to end when they turn 18.
JeanI advise against Liberty Mutual. Low rate initially, but jacked up 28% at renewal.
PatHave you considered calling around? She is over 25 so considered an adult.
Her rates probably won’t go much lower until she marries.
Call around (at least 5 places) to compare. Probably not as bad as you think.
DianeWhy is the husband kicking her off? Can’t she just pay her portion of it.
Discounts for multiple cars it will higher for both if only one car on the insurance
LindaDefinitely find an insurance agent, they will find her the best deal. No cost to use them either
AmyBest to call around and get quotes. I have State Farm and am happy with them.
When I was your daughter age I had Geico
PamIf she lives in your house she is on your insurance as a driver even if she owns a car and carries her own insurance.
But if she doesn’t own a car then she can’t.
But having more than one vehicle on the same policy usually gives you a discount so why this move
AdamsSHE needs to sit down and start calling places. The process is intimidating, but help her make it less stressful.
Have her do it when your around Incase she has any questions.
Insurance varies based on so many factors including her driving record – the vehicle and its age, how far she drives, where she lives, her credit, ect… As well as the deductible and payment plan she chooses.
She needs to make sure there’s no break in her coverage, I’m guessing her being kicked off of his is through the end of the month. Has she been paying towards his insurance?
I’d suggest she add a roadside warranty to her policy to cover her if something happens. I think I pay $5 a month and it includes towing, will bring me gas, unlock my car.
I mainly have it for towing, just Incase something happens. I’m sure each company varies what they cover.
Before she called help her by telling her what they’re going to ask and giving her a breakdown what everything means.
Is she a student? If she has good grades, we used to get a discount when our kids were in school.
Insurance companies offer multiple policy discounts – if she’s renting have them give her a quote for renters insurance.
My son pays $13 a month I believe. Are either of her parents or grandparents Veterans that were honorably discharged?
If so, she’d qualify for USAA. It’s weird her husband would kick her off his plan.
When she’s calling around have her write down who she spoke with so that she can ask for that same person if she needs to call back with more questions.
Have her call the agent you use, assuming she was on your policy until she got married. Maybe that history could give her credit for being a returning customer.
I’m guessing your friend who was “over due” had other factors involved. It used to be important that there isn’t a break in coverage.
So, if he’s already removed her, just get something today. Then get something better for her and cancel this one. If her vehicle is newer and has high insurance.
Look into a defensive driving course, it will give her an added discount. Granted it will cost her to take it, maybe it will be a better discount.
JonI would check with local insurance brokers along with the name brand insurances.
Get multiple quotes and by that I mean at least six. The variation you’ll see is scary.
ErikFarmers isn’t bad. Especially if you use their app that tracks your driving.
As long as you don’t play on your phone while you drive or slam on your brakes often, you will get a big discount.
MollyIf she is 25, she can find her own insurance. She’s old enough to do the legwork to compare rates, talk to brokers, and find a good policy.
