Suggestions needed to invest $300K. (46 years, looking to grow the money and time horizon is long term)
1) Put all in total index fund like VTI
2) Put all in VOO or any other S&P 500 fund
3) Split between 2-3 funds. S&P 500 and some small-cap or mid-cap
4) Have a CFP manage the amount and pay them a fees (approx 1%). Some brokers like Schwab have a robo-advisor where they pick a fund for you without charging any fees.
What would you do?
Mark1) and 2) is the 99% the same long term. both fine long term choices. 4) robo advisors are a gimmick and its pointless to give someone money when u can do the same thing for basically free (index funds).
my vote is
3. I’m the same age as u and my retirement portfolio is 70% (mix of s and p / total market fund) / 20% small cap / 10% BRK_B.
JamesPick 1 or 2 and you’ll get the best return. Vti and voo 80% the same with vti adding in mid and small cap stocks but both have similar returns.
Lefflbine15-20 years I call it long term,
myself will all in QQQ(past 10 year growth 5.47x), vti (past 10 year =3.47x).spy(past 10 years 3.49x) in my view US will continue lead the world economy next 20+ years, and these performance are highly likely repeat (or even better with AI evolution).
but the way, you must be able to hold on too the ETF regardless of the market condition, otherwise this strategy is not for you
MaxI would put 75 percent in a total market etf and 25 percent in QQQ
