Can I use the same HSA account if I add my husband later to my HDHP?

You can spend your hsa dollars on him. You can make him an authorized user on your hsa via a debit card, if your hsa admin offers it.

You can make family amount contributions to your hsa.

But if he wants to make contributions to his own hsa, or get his employer hsa match or contributions if any are offered, he would need his own hsa match.

But be careful if he chooses coverage of non hdhp and funds an fsa as that would very likely eliminate both his and your hsa contribution for that period/year.

HSAs are individual accounts, even if you make family contribution. You can use it on any covered dependant as long as the expense occurred on or after the account (or accounts) were established.

Think of it like an IRA, you can have as many accounts as you want but the annual limits are the same.
